Height: 5'11"
Weight: 175 lbs
Hair: Black
Eyes: Blue
Relations: Unknown.
Description: Standing tall and broad, Vance has long, dark hair and bright blue eyes. Due to his past experiences, Vance's features have begun to harden, a scowl always on the young man's face, making him appear older than he is. Vance is a lithe man with a muscular body, toned due to years of training. Typically Vance wears dark gray under robes, with a surcoat made of black synthetic leather which offers more protection than traditional cloth garments typically worn by Jedi or Sith. Worn atop his clothing, Vance has aquired select portions of Sith Armor; this armor, which is decorated in Sith design, offers mild protection against energy weapons and covers his chest and left shoulder. Around his body, Vance wears a heavy cloak, complete with hood, in order to conceal his appearance.
Homeworld: Corellia
Affiliation: Sith Order
Rank: Sith Master
Craft: Sith Infiltrator
Weapon: Lightsaber - Crafted by Vance under the watchful eye of an long-since-dead Sith Master, this azure bladed weapon has multiple focusing crystals and has been constructed for raw power. The blade itself has been reinforced, due to the nature and placement of said crystals, and as such the weapon setting is versitile when Vance alters between Lightsaber Forms.
Unlike most, Vance's lightsaber handle has been upgraded with a series of personal touches. The hilt itself has a curved aspect to the grip, which slightly alters the wielding center, thus causing a distinct variation to the norm for potential confusion, while allowing Vance to better perform elaborate attacks with more precision and finese. Another aspect of the weapon is the unique cell-recognization pad built into the main portion of the handle; thus if the cell patterns do not match that of designated user, namely Vance, the weapon's power cells shut down, and the installed failsafe devices are activated. An electrocution failsafe has been included in the design, which can seriously injure another should they attempt to use his lightsaber.
The hilt has a double-click deactivation button. Namely it requires one press to activate the weapon, and a quick double press to deactivate; this allows Vance to throw the lightsaber in combat, without the fear of it deactivating without pressure applied to the activation button.
Vance has also installed a call beacon; and this device will summon his Sith Interceptor with a slave circuit, like a regular call beacon, once the button that has been embedded in the handle of the lightsaber has been pushed.
Vance has actually constructed two lightsabers, each to exactly the same properties as mentioned above, which he uses in a dual-wielding fashion of his own uniquely created combat style.
---------- Background Data ----------
Born on Corellia, Vance Jas lived in the large city of Coronet, though he was orphaned at a young age and has no recollection of his parents. Having been placed within a children's home, Vance lived with other orphans for a time until he was old enough to escape the secret slave operation; the orphans being forced to work on production lines, making items of clothing and the like for various trading venues. Upon his escape, with a small number of fellow orphans, Vance began his life on the streets often having to steal and dodge CorSec patrols, as they seemed intent on riding Coronet of the street scum.
As time ppassed, the constant need to survive became an instinct to the young child. Finding a small sewer chamber to use as home, Vance found that he felt safest away from the eyes of those who would shun and outcast him. During his early years, Vance (the name he kept from the orphan records)found he was able to manipulate the smallest of objects and creatures into doing what he wished; using these maniuplations of rodents to steal bread and fruit from the local stall owner above ground was simple. Yet, growing up in the slums of Coronet, Vance found he would only ever have himself to rely on, he would have to survive without the aid of others. And so life continued, the young street boy growing into a young man, finding it harder each growing day to beg and recieve the lose credits from passersby.
On one such begging occasion, it would have seemed destiny was smiling upon the young lad, as he was approached by an elderly couple offering to take the poor child in under their wings. As it turned out, this couple were local foster parents, who often helped street children by bringing them into their small home and teaching them the basics they would need to survive as adults.
As time passed, Vance showed his true intellect and attended schooling in Coronet, learning at an incredible rate which dumbfounded his foster parents and teachers alike. As he began to develop his reading and writing skills, Vance began to take regular trips to the local library, reading through holo-pads; and destiny once again gave the young man a small push, as Vance discovered some old war stories which told of the past exploits of beings who could use a mysterious energy for their own needs. Vance's attention from that point was devoted solely to discovering more in the older sections of the large library.
Searching for months, Vance found something more. A Jedi's tellings of a group known as the Sith. Reading the holo-pad several times over, Vance began to discover that he showed some of the same gifts as the Force sensitives, as they were labled. As the young teenager continued to study holos of the same nature, those who knew him best found that Vance was changing; he was prone to becoming easily angered, quick to action, rash and unsocialable, often locking himself away for days in his room reading his holos. Vance's foster parents found this new development within their son alarming and soon banned the young man from visiting the library; as they decided the changes had occured since he started attending the library's holo-cubicals.
As was expected, Vance's reaction wasn't pleasant, the young teen feeling a build up of rage at being told he could no longer study the tales he so enjoyed. For Vance knew he more he read, the more he understood why the Sith could have been considered so great in their golden age. Weeks later, Vance's foster parents were involved in a speeder accident, the family vehicle seemingly suffering a powercoupling malfunction which caused the emission tank to explode.
Vance was then taken back into the Children Home, but soon escaped once again. Back on the streets, the young teenager began visiting the library every day, almost literally living within its confines and vast resources of knowledge for those who knew where to look. And so it happened, that on a seemingly normal day like every other, while sitting in the shadows of a holoshelf reading the latest he had found on Sith, Vance overhead a conversation between two men; at first their words were of little concern, Vance ignoring them, but at the sound of Sith his attention was instantly upon them. The two historians were discussing the possiblity of the Sith returning and there being a rumored base on a backwater planet in the outer-rim territory, as they had heard from a friend of a friend who was a spacer. Still with an amount of credits issued to him through his dead foster parents' will, Vance decided to act upon this rumor, seeking out the planet which he had heard of from the two who knew the spacer.
Six months after starting his journey, Vance found himself upon the steps of a real Sith Temple. Entering the dark building, Vance discovered that he was not alone, as if something was beckoning to him, calling him to come further into the depths of the hallways he walked. After what seemed hours of seemingly random walking, Vance came face-to-face with a Sith by the name of Ahnk...
For years, Vance trained under the teachings of Ahnk, the teenager throwing himself into his studies, passing his master's tests as though possessed by the most intense of internal passion. As he progressed, Vance found that his abilities were uncanny and his skills with a lightsaber were even more so - Vance proved to be an adept pupil of the Dark Side, and made his master proud.
Following examples of ancient Sith Lords that preceded him, the Master eventually led Vance to another Sith temple on the planet. The temple was undoubtedly older than Ahnk's temple, and would serve as the holding place of Vance's furthered training in the lightsaber arts. The two entered the large, canyon spaning temple; the walls were dark, swallowing the very light that filtered in through the open entrance. All through out there were ancient sith hieroglyphics, which told of an age long since passed - it also told of many sith teachings, yet the words remained a mystery to the young boy, as they were from before the Sith text he had been taught.
Further into the temple the two ventured, the Master nothing but a shadow within the darkened hallways. Vance listened to the words his Master spoke, heeding the insight taught. Upon reaching a large chamber, the Master informed his pupil of his test: Vance would be left alone within the temple, where he would be hunted and hounded by all manner of ancient evil.
Failure meant death.
Without another word the Master was gone, Vance left alone to his fate. With the presence of Ahnk now gone, the boy felt fear; it was this fear that led to the first temple shadows coming for him. Like ghosts they wailed, some moving through the darkness on silent feet, others flying on soundless wings - the test had begun, Vance being left to the ghouls of the Sith temple. In the darkness of his prison, Vance soon lost track of time. Minutes became hours, hours became days, days became weeks. The young boy had no notion of the world outside of the sealed temple.
Survival was the lesson. It was the way of all sith; this lesson was already known to Vance, and ultimately aided in his ability to survive. Even as Vance began to overcome his fear, controlling it to his will, the boy saw that he was becoming the hunter; that the creatures which had haunted him for so long were becoming his prey. He hunted, he killed and he lived off the animal meat. This was Vance's existence for longer than he could remember and while inside, the boy learnt, understood and discovered.
When a powerful evil made itself known within the temple, Vance knew no fear. He prepared himself, seeking out the creature that dwelled within the depths of the temple; for now, every aspect of the dark sith catacombs were known to the boy. Nothing within the temple could escape his notice; he was attuned to his dwelling. Navigating the labyrinth easily, as he had long memorized the entire layout, Vance came upon a familiar presence, one that had left so long ago - his Master. The test was revealed as complete, and Vance was to follow his Master back out into the world, away from the shadows which had become his home.
Leaving the temple, the boy was given witness to his appearance. He had aged considerably, and was shortly informed that he had been within the temple for exactly two standard years. The length of time the Master was prone to placing all of his apprentices inside of the temple. Vance's Master appeared pleased with his apprentice's progress, his ability to survive. There had been three possible outcomes. The first was death, utter and complete failure. The second was merely survival of the fittest, the most able. The third was also survival, but also self-discovery and exploration; Vance's sith armor and modified weapon told that his path had been the latter, as he had explored and found secreted chambers filled with relics from long ago. Vance told his Master that under the guidance of Sith shadows he had been witness to displays of power and lessons; the lightsaber the young man held proof of his claim, as it had been crafted a new with ancient components that belonged to the Sith of old themselves.
With a greater source of knowledge from his experiences, Vance completed his training with his Master, his lessons with the lightsaber increasing. Learning multiple combat Forms were taught, Vance gaining knowledge of a variety of different stances, attacks and defences. For another year, Vance was taught the last lessons possible, his Master passing on the last of what could be taught. Yet Vance wanted more. Like many dark apprentices before him, a basic impatience undermined all of Vance's training. Eager to ascend beyond his Master's abilities, Vance informed his Master that he would be leaving in order to further seek knowledge. Vance left his Master's side, and journeyed to the world of Korriban where he would disappear for the next several years...
Upon his return, Vance soon joined the Sith Order, taking a position as the head of the brotherhood, before ascending to the rank of Sith Master. His power, so new and vibrant within the dull surroundings of the Sith Temple, was like a breath of fresh air; and soon there were more than a dozen Sith Apprentices seeking out the Sith, wishing to be trained in the ways of the Dark Side. In his time with the Sith Order, Vance has taken part in a variety of confrontations with the Jedi, the most prominent being a duel with the Jedi Master Vodo Baas; the altercation actually taking part in the Jedi Temple itself, as both a display of Vance's audacity toward the Jedi, and also to test himself against one of the Order's most revered leaders.
In more recent times, Vance has since begun expanding the Sith Order, seeking to bring the fear of the Sith to the galaxy once again...
