TRF History: Valinor was a successful mining colony harkening back from the days of the Old Republic. It slowly began to decline into a civil war as various criminal groups tried to seize control of its faltering government. Under President Hunt, the government launched an offensive to drive back the warlords and others who terrorized the populace. Although initially successful, the warlords under General Zhu began to secretly recieve backing and support from the Imperial SS. In the meantime, the President had travelled to Genon to ask for Confederation assistance in his cause. The Confederation responded by sending the Confederation Expeditionary Force, which landed a comparitively massive ground force while imposing a system lockdown on behalf of the Valinorian government. In a series of battles took place between the two alliances, with the end result being a virtual stalemate. Negiogations took place, in which the warlords and their supporters voluntarily colonized a new world, leaving the planet in peace. The Confederation and the government consequently rebuilt damaged parts of the planet's infrastructure as the planet was inducted into the Confederation.
Role within the Confederation: Valinor serves as the Confederation's Proper eastern most outpost, and as a valueable mining planet. Recent advances by Valinorian engineers have allowed miners to dig deeper to the core, providing once again a steady stream of minerals and metals. Many of the more precious metals are sold on the open market, attracting some commodity traders. More common elements are sold to corporate interests, and governmental owned mines provide materials for Confederation projects.
