The Imperial-class Star Destroyer and its descendants have played a paramount role in the history of the Empire - at every major battle in the five decades since Endor, at least one of the ubiquitous behemoths has seen action. However, with the passage of time, technologies have improved and even the mighty ISD needed a refit. Thusly introduced to the family of ISDs and so-called ImpStar Deuces was the Imperial III-class Star Destroyer.

The ISD III has a thicker hull and more weapons than its predecessors. The up-gunning of the basic wedge design was accomplished by reducing the number of superfluous ion cannon and lengthening the hull. The drive engines and overall layout of the vessel - hull, drive train, command tower - remains the same. The only way to visually differentiate between an ISD III and its older comrades is the reduction of heavy ordance from the side of the superstructure from ten to eight emplacements.

An ISD IV and V are currently under development and one of each class has been produced as a prototype.
