Hawkeye-class Star Destroyer

Hawkeye-class Star Destroyer - (Modified Venator-class)

The Hawkeye-class is meant to bring massive amounts of fire upon multiple targets while working in contrast to carriers and other capital vessels.

Hawkeye was the test bed for many new systems and technology for the Alliance. With the Assistance of Rob stellar and Stellar Enterprises, the Hawkeye-class is a series of Modified Republic Venator -Class Star Destroyers. Utilizing state of the art weapons, shielding, and armor technology the New Hawkeye-class will give new life the the old Venator-class ships and bring them up to par with current warships of their class.

While Hawkeye was modified to be a command and control vessel, the Hawkeye-class will operate in a heavy Support role in the Fleet. Heavy weapons systems, shielding and armor equal that of modern destroyer classes. The reinforced framework make the new model ships much more durable than their old republic counterparts. With state of the art targeting and tracking systems the Hawkeye-class can track and target over fifty targets at one time.

Slower than the original, the new modified ships are meant to close and support bombardment missions and work as close support for planetary assaults. The repulsor systems have been removed taking the atmospheric capabilities from the new models. This makes room for the multiple capacitor banks and power generators needed to operate the heavy weapons upgrade.

The Hangers remain intact but the internal storage space has been removed. Two rim Hangers, port and starboard, house the shuttles and work as guest hangers if needed. The Forward prow hanger houses three squadrons of fighter craft. Generally a wing of 36 bombers would make up the load out of the new Hawkeye-class. These offer support for battles where other ships offer fighter cover and support.

Power - A third Hypermatter Annihilation Reactors replaces much of the internal hanger storage of the original vessels. The Hawkeye-class can produce the power need to run all systems at one hundred percent while absorbing massive punishment on its shielding. The added power consumption of the heavy weapons make sustained fire of all of her guns impossible for longer than twenty minutes. Stutter fire deployment of the weapons is needed to maintain longer engagements. The triple cores are positioned midship where power can be distributed evenly and without any gain loss due to cable bleed.

Speed - Slower than the old Venator-class the new class has seen many upgrades in thrust control over the prototype. It is more stable and can turn more rapidly then Hawkeye. Still slow in sub light by modern standards theships of the Hawkeye-class were not designed to depend on speed to close with an enemy ot run from one. It moves in one a battle is engaged and pummels the enemy in support of other ships.

Armor - Stellar Carbon Matrix Armor encase the vessel offering far superior protection than the old Venator-class. Each Layer of Armor has Been equipped with a cellulose dampener which absorbs shock from incoming projectiles.

Shielding - The Hawkeye-class retains the prototypes Serridge SEAL shielding system. 50 Delphus JC-671 projectors equally distribute the shields over the ship. With overlapping fields and redundant projectors.

Control - Redundant Fabritech ANs 9.5w Sensor system and hyperwave Communications and scanning Modules work to track and target enemys with percise accuracy. Tactical Information is handled by four Stellar Enterprises SAS-91 NVAS systems. All data is processed by standard systems then checked against the same data on the NVAS. This data is delivered fast and without failure to the operators. All fire control data is channeled into the Plat Dormma targeting computer which then routes the information into the massive quad core of the ships brain. One of twelve CIC stations can access any of this data at any time.

Weapons - Unlike the original Hawkeye which was built as a command vessel with a weapons load out for defensive purposes the Hawkeye-class is a pure offensive vessel.
12 Octuple Advanced Heavy Turbolaser Turrets - The 8 XX-10 Qctuple batteries have been replaces with a turret containing two Quadra Turbolaser cannons. Each turret can fire all eight cannons, a tandem pattern of four linked cannons, or a scatter pattern of each cannon firing individually in succession which offering a higher rate of fire and prolonged efficiency.
2 Double Long Range Heavy Ion Cannon Turrets - originally installed on Munificent star frigates the Long range heavy Ion Cannons aid in slowing and disabling enemies before they close into weapons range. Each turret fires linked and must recharge for a full thirty seconds before firing again.
10 XV-9 Quad Turbolaser Turrets - positioned on sets of two turrets along the upper and lower rim of the ship. The Quadra Design works much like its larger vesrion. it can fire link with all four cannons firing at one time or in the stutter pattern offering better tracking and prformance.
20 Double Ion Cannon Turrets - The upgrad in ion power on the Hawkeye-class aids int dealing with smaller and mid sized vessel more rapidly by working against their shields and disbling them.
20 All Purpose Mass Driver Cannons - the Hawkeye-class retains the multi use weapons systems each with a encassed projectile containment system. Each canon has the option of warhead ranging from anti-fighter and projectile flak, which can be deployed in support of other ships to aid in dealing with fighter attacks, twin Assault Missiles, which can be deployed against planets or vessels, or seismic charges to work in clearing out and breaking up tightly grouped enemy formations.
