NAME: Skorpion All-Terrain Ground Assault VehicleDESIGNATION: SK-GAV
TYPE: Ground Assault Vehicle
LENGTH: 12 meters
HEIGHT: 4 meters
PROPULSION: Repulsors, two hydro-electric-powered propulsion engines
SPEED: 95 kph (58.9 mph) max on level, clear terrain
CREW: 5
PASSENGERS: None
ARMOR: One layer of titanium alloy, two layers of two-inch durasteel, six inches of ablative armor
MAIN ARMAMENT: Phoenix gun battery
SECONDARY WEAPONS: 2 E-WEBs mounted in side turrets, two heavy blaster cannons (forward fire only)
DESCRIPTION: The SK-SP "Skorpion" is designed to be a fast, heavily armored tank that can be deployed for ground assault. It's main body has four inches of durasteel, an inch of the titanium alloy used to arm on TIE fighters, and six inches of ablative armor that can absorb fire from E-WEBs, heavy blaster cannons, and even light laser cannons. The weak points are the glassteel slits necessary for driving purposes. The secondary driver doubles as the gunner for the two forward firing heavy blaster cannons.
The main body also contains the main propulsion systems. Utilizing and expanding upon an old technique, two engines, running on refined hydrogen and electric power, are completely contained within the armor. The exhaust is released through two vents underneath the vehicle, making it impossible to destroy the engines from the outside unless someone is lying under the Skorpion. Repulsorlifts are also placed on the bottom of the vehicle, but they are angled in such a way so that by activating certain ones, the tank can literally turn on a credit.
The main turret is coated with the same armor, though only four inches of ablative armor could be placed on it. Again, the glassteel is the weak point, as is the unarmored joint between the turret and the main body, though it would take precision shooting to seperate the two. On the turret is mounted the Phoenix gun battery, consisting of an electrically charged rail gun and two rapid-fire blaster cannons. Turret swivel speed is moderate, but the gun swivel mount is extremely responsive. The guns can depress to -10 degrees and elevate to 75 degrees and act as anti-aircraft fire if necessary.
The auxilary turrets are mounted on the wing-like protrusions to the side of the craft. Each turret, designed for anti-infantry defense, mounts a single E-WEB repeating blaster. These turrets are the least armored, with only two inches of durasteel and two inches of ablative armor on each. The glassteel and the turret joint are weak points. These turrets have a much faster rotation speed than the main turret, and the swivel speed is also faster. Depression is -45 degrees, but elevation is only 50 degrees.

So'd mine, Heir.
My next R&D will be; Asshat Armor System. And it will pwn.

His Ablative armor burns away when fired on... think of a layer of ice against a flamethrower.... my version of Ablative armor ABSORBS energy and channels it into batteries, two different types of ablative...

Yeah, so did I.
ablative.n
-tending to ablate
But there you have it. A one word entry in a TNO R&D, versus a two page raid when a GC R&D does the same. Where's the rage, Gue?
way to rip things straight from me without leaving references... GC, stealing good ideas in a rapid attempt to not be made the galaxies bitches since 2005.
Well, I took ablative to mean exactly what it says - it basically shunts away heat-based attacks, i.e. blaster and laser bolts. As far as projectile attacks go, it's just another six inches of armor.
EDIT: That's not to say it's invulnerable to those, but it has the ability to withstand multiple hits from light laser cannons (such as those mounted on the original TIE.

I got tore up like a suburban white boy in the state penn when I tried to run that "ablative armor" thing by without 'explaining' how and why. Maybe that's just 'cos it was a GC R&D. No bias there, eh?

Your tank looks upset.
Did you say the green made it look fat?

The top part looks like a snowman's head. The bottom part looks like it's giving me some raised eyebrows.
