Description: This is a fully automated defense station. It is designed to be placed in orbit or in deeper space to help protect planets or anything else that needs protection, but lacks weaponry. These platforms come in two flavors if you will. One is a heavy weapons platform, designed to take on llarger capital class ships, and the other is mostly anti-air/missile with guns oriented towards taking out missiles and fighters.

An intermixing pattern of both there platforms helps to create an overlaping defense line for defense again both fighters and heavier ships. With their advanced automated control systems and laser communication datalinks the stations are able to communicate with each other even through the heaviest jamming and can target a single ship with more than one defense platform. They are also capable of recieving instructs from a defense fleet or the planet they are protecting.

Using these new laser datalinks, the stations can quickly send and recieve information without the worry of it being intercepted or jammed since the laser only travels from one emiter to another reciever unit without any signal dispersion. The only major drawback to this system is that its line of sight and as such can be interupted if something were to get in the way of the beam. The stations get around this problem by being able to relay commands through other platforms that aren't being blocked, however, this takes more time.

All of the systems used by the Protector Platforms are stored within its main body. Most of the weapons, however, are installed on smaller sections that extend from the main body. This allows all the weapons to have very wide and efficiant firing archs. Doing this allows each weapon to overlap its fire with another gun emplacement. In addition, every weapon has its own droid brain gunner, to allow for independent firing. These can be connected together to focus fire on a single target, however.
