Description:

The Dasher is designed as a counter-part to the Fury class gunship. Unlike it's predeccessor, which is heavily protected, travels fairly slowly, and is packed with energy weapons, the Dasher is designed to be fast, highly manueverable, lightly protected, and packed with solid projectile weaponry. It's main purpose is to launch hit and fade attacks, when it carries out it's named purpose, to dash into a fleet battle, launch a wall of proton torpedoes, then use it's superior speed to escape counter-attack while it reload's it's tubes. The Dasher is again similary shaped to the Fury, except not as long. And in addition, the engine and middle compartments have been trunked into a single long compartment, eliminating the rear strut. The forward compartment still houses the bridge, and the now only block connector still holds weapons, but the combined second compartment houses shield equipment forward, and the drive engines and power core aft. The armament is situated with a pair of turbolaser batteries on the bow of the vessel, with a quad laser cannon on either top, bottom, port, or starboard of the block strut. The forward and middle parts of the second compartment house the torpedo launchers, situated five to port, and five to starboard. Finally, a pair of struts on the bottom side of the compartment contain a pair of TIE-2s intended as additional anti-starfighter defence and for scouting purposes. The Dasher, as stated is light armoured and shielded, but also contains the type of hull armour used on the Fury, with the outer hull ring rating in at 75 RU, and the inner hull at 25 RU, with tightly packed cold foam in between. The shields are two layered, the outer layer at 100 SBD, and the inner layer at 150 SBD. And that pretty much rounds out the Dasher class Corvette.
