Cree'Ar R&D: Incisor

Cree'Ar Incisor Fightercraft, 9 meters

Armament: 1 Plasma Disruptor Cannon, 20 Energy Field Disruption Cannon

The Cree'Ar Clawcraft, designed in part by the efforts of Shran Badaar to crack the Csillian database, proved to be an effective design. However, it was known from it's inception that even though it was produced to complement the Cree'Ar fleet, that it operated as a prototype. When the time came for the Nexus to redesign the vessel, they created the Incisor.

The Incisor is a fast attack, first strike starfighter that operates at a speed even higher then the Clawcraft. Because the vessel was designed by the Nexus itself it was able to craft a fighter devoid of free space normally left by organic designers. Although he knew that the ship would have Nexus control Shran invariably left space for additions and construction angles. Since the Nexus designed a perfect ship knowing it would be constructed by their expert mechanisms and that it would need no addition, no excess room was required beyond operating arcs and space for vacuum to cool components.

This allows the Incisor to have more technology and yet be smaller, lighter, and most importantly, faster. The Incisor is about twenty five percent faster then the Clawcraft was and is much more adept at banking and making tight turns because of the shortened profile and smoother edges, lowering the fighter's drag coefficient and allowing for a generally more smooth, more effective flight at high speed and through difficult maneuvers.

The ships armament has been boosted as well. Although the primary armament of the singular plasma cannon has been left unchanged, the additional room inside the vessel has allowed for additional space for energy disruption cannons, allowing for their compliment to increase substantially. The additional ion based weaponry allows for the fighter to be used against capital vessels of the lower classes as well as against fighters.

There is one further improvement. The Nexus has developed a shield matrix for the fighter based on the energy disruption cannon. In situations where incoming fire is detected the Nexus can use a pulse of energy from the cannons to serve as a diffusion field, projected of the same energy frequency of the weapon to cancel it's effects out almost entirely. This shielding method is not without its limitations as it does not protect against missile or other projectile attacks at all and does not shield the vessel's rear or engine sections. Nevertheless, it allows for the fighter to rely on more then it's hull when in dogfights and considering the superior piloting skills of the Nexus when compared to organic pilots, the chances of allowing for an open strike on the vessels rear are extremely low.

Unlike the majority of the Cree'Ar fighters, the Incisor can travel independent of a carrier ship, as it's adaptive shielding allows it to absorb and differ some of the effects of the conduit travel.

It's a small ion cannon, locked fore, and there are five on each of the hooks/wings. Four located about three quarters of the way down from the cockpit, and one on the tip of the wing. For intents and purposes, they are, basically, four ion cannons as opposed to twenty, since they are emitters feeding from the same generator, but fixed emitters, hence the need for five a wing. It opens up the firing radius.

The power is the same power as all of my ion cannons. They act under the same status of the ones I cleared with Gue; half the power, twice the rate.

Since they're built into the entirety of the 9 by 2.5 wings, they're capital class, as opposed to the strafighter class employed on the Clawcraft.

Describe the Energy Field Disruption Cannon? Size, power, etc. How does it compare to, say, one of the four main cannons on an X-Wing?

I'm not doubting room to support the power generators etc. it's just that a weapon takes up a certain amount of space on the hull and a fighter of 9m can only have so much surface area.

But I wasn't making a real complaint it was more of a general musing.

When there is no pilot provisions life support cockpit chair computers and cup holders, yes.

Is there even room on the hull of a 9m ship for 21 guns plus engines?
