Dominion R&D: Tetrasphere

Tetrasphere Orbital Platform, 195 kilometers

The Tetrasphere Orbital Platform is based on the conduit network linking the Ariguan section of the Cree'Ar galaxy. It is used for communication and transportation between systems across the galactic arm, and allows for the deployment of arbiters, in far more limited supply, to extraglactic pursuits.

The Tetrasphere is essentially a combination of arbiter and shield ship factored up by several million degrees. It is massive, easily encompassing small moons; it is infact small moons that are used to create the Tetrasphere. Normally, a moon is mined by the tek'a'tara, sent to the surface of a planet, and recrafted into the superstructure of the Tetrasphere. It is not in fact unusual for more then one moon to be required, and the process can take a matter of centuries. Fortunately, opportunities in this galaxy have allowed the Dominion to expedite the process.

The Tetrasphere is a massive series of interconnected gravitic manipulation arrays spooled under an impenetrable hull design. At the top of each sphere is a hyperping generator, allowing for the creation of a conduit more stable and in general far larger then the kind created by the arbiter. With interconnecting conduits the Cree'Ar possess the ability to expedite their already considerable intersystem travel by about half. It would allow for reinforcements from the home galaxy in a matter of days, as opposed to months previous, and allow for a gradual build up of larger vessels over a period of months as opposed to years. That in and of itself is a large boon to the preparedness and advancement of the Cree'Ar fleet.

But the primary function of the Tetrasphere is to act as intersystem defense. The Tetrasphere possesses massive gravametric field modulators, similar in style to those on the shield ship only to a much larger scale and amount. It allows for the projection of shields within a planetary system indefinitely. The system is limited in that it can be utilized to shield a planet, or a fleet, but not both simultaneously.

Recent innovations have allowed ships and relays built with the gravitic manipulation arrays to transmit to those ships or other mass configured with a shield ship beacon a gravitic cloak. The cloak is in similar limitation to the shield field but allows for the cloaking of a fleet above a planet, or a planet itself. This usefulness is limited within the Cree'Ar home galaxy but will more then likely be implemented in the coruscan campaign.

The gravitic cloak operates on a simple premise that is both simpler and more complicated then the shield waves at the same time. The principle is the bending of energy; in the case of the shield waves, the bending of polarized and highly charged weapon energy, and in the case of the cloaking waves, the bending of comparably low energy fields and beams of light and passive sensor beams. The field is easier to upkeep with energy because the amount of energy that needs to be redirected is infinitesimal compared to focused weapon energy, but is more difficult to calibrate because the field must offer light from both directions bent and projected seamlessly and as close to instantly as possible. The system is not perfect, but it is defensible against the crystal gravfield detectors; because gravity is being used to emit the cloak, the area of operation of the field will not return a conclusive result.

Ultimately, the purpose of the Tetrasphere is to eliminate the need for defensive deployment of shield ships, allowing for their more widespread use in offensive and intersystem operations. That in and of itself will be a huge boost to the versatility and general ability of the Cree'Ar war machine, allowing the Dominion for unopposed operation and domination of the coruscan galaxy.
Glad to see something good came out of Star Trek "Enterprise".
In A Mirror, Darkly was good. And I have no complaints about all the shots of Jolene Blalocks erect nipples.
