25 Scorpion Attack Droids

Vessel Complement
1 Squadron(12) of SSFs
1 Lambda Shuttle

Embarked Troop Capacity - 100 Security Troops

Crew - 10,500

Station Description:

The Sigma-class Defence Station was designed to combat the threat of planetary invasion by anybody. Due to the low number of troops and fighters and the lack of engines the Sigma is able to have more weapons, shields and a stronger hull than ships of comparable size. These stations will begin to be constructed around worlds of strategic importance thus allowing Defence Fleets to be freed up so less ships will need to be tied to any one location.

The Proton Torpedo Launchers are put on the top bottom and both sides of the Sigma so as to allow them all to be targeted at an invading force.

Station Description
With the threat of war possibly looming on the horizon it became apparent to the Coalition Command that there was a high likelihood that Coalition worlds may face attack by space-borne forces in the near future. Therefore a viable defensive strategy was needed to protect the Coalition’s planetary assets. A number of ideas were considered until the idea of an Orbital space station was decided upon. The Sigma was designed by Sh’shuun Shipworks and it will be fielded within the coming months. The station will originally be placed at high-risk worlds like Mon Calamari or Onyx. Since the station was commissioned to be built in a number of different locations there is no specific manufacturer rather many different consortiums or companies will produce them, as the local situation demands it. The idea of a space station was chosen over building a home-defence fleet because Space Stations are more powerful than ships, per the amount of resources used, because they don’t need to waste space with things like sublight or hyperdrive engines or fighters because they’d receive support from ground-based fighters. Also a space station would just need to be constructed on location rather than using up precious shipyard space. This takes advantage of one of the main features of the Coalition in that it has plenty of natural resources but it doesn’t have as big an industrial base as other galactic powers such as The New Order. The Sigma has manoeuvring thrusters but they aren’t strong enough to move the station. Plus if they did the orbit would destabilize (assuming it was in orbit) and that would be bad.

The primary striking weapon of the Sigma is the torpedo banks, which are, mounted two above and two below. The banks are essentially a cylinder with a height of about 2 meters and a diameter of 30 meters. The bank is placed on a rotating motor and the idea is that it rotates and fires all 30 torpedoes across a width of about 4 meters providing a concentrated punch. (It’s sort of like a horizontal Gatling gun). Each launcher has 10 reloads.

I want one. With hyperdrive engines and a cloaking device. While your at it, toss in a Super Laser for kicks.

As Lup said...

A rose by any other name would still smell like shit if it looked like that.

Gloria Imperium, Telan.

Glad to help. This is probably one of my last posts until April. Best of wishes to all - -keep the Empire alive for me

Thats alright telan. And thanks for telling me about those Quad turbolasers I had a slightly different view of what there power was.

#13 3:23am 30/12/05

Was not trying to ridicule your idea, just let you know of the true power of the QTL. Your current weapons compliment cant be kpe tif you increase the size of the station to about 10,000m - which, for a space station, is not out of line

I HAD to say something, I mean, this is probably the only thread I get to participate in for sometime

if you would prefer another target, a military target, than name the band!

And remember, Marth has a 100 IQ rating, yours is only 'iwantitall'.

So Nyah! :p

Might I point out that your torpedo cluster wasn't exactly an original idea. So it's more like I'm ripping off somebody else long ago.

And thats not really important seeing as the R&D is being reworked and the torpedo banks may not even be included in the submission.

And I'm really not going to bother spending any more time trying to convince you that I'm not Jan, because I really don't give a fuck what you think.

way to rip of my TORPEDO cluster MARTHa

#8 4:30am 28/12/05

A rose by any other name...

#7 4:25am 28/12/05

And Telan I'm aware that its overpowered. I was playing around with two different R&D ideas and ended up with one fucked up one.

#6 4:23am 28/12/05

1. I'm not Jan

2. Do you see a Turbolaser cluster? Because I sure don't. Perhaps you should stfu.
