Explanations
Phalanx Anti-Missile Point Defence Gatling Laser Network
The Phalanx, is made up of a network of small, turreted light blaster cannons. These weapons are very able to pick out missiles and destroy them from long range. The Phalanx System reduces the percentage of successful short-range missile strikes to less than 20%, and long-range attacks to under 5%.
Reactive Shielding
Reactive shielding is a system designed to protect the Messiah from energy weapons. When the vessel’s shields are raised, a special battery bank is charged along with them. Then, when computers detect a substantial bombardment against any section of the vessel, the shield is immediately recharged with stored energy from this bank.
Multi Track Shielding
Multi Track Shielding uses a dedicated targeting computer imbedded in the shielding system to track approaching enemies and calculate approximate damage. The system automatically them distributes shields for maximum damage resistance. Combined with reactive shielding, this system gives the Messiah an unprecedented edge in battle.
Background Information
Built to replace the aging Immobilizer 418 series of vessels, informally known as the Interdictor, the new Interdictor Class Fleet Support Vessel is built on the same upgraded hull as the Guardian FDV and Dictator FCV. Taking into account new technological advances and the shortcomings of the old Immobilizer class, the Interdictor is a highly advanced warship designed to prevent an enemy fleet from withdrawing a battle field, as well as to force the reversion of vessels travelling in hyperspace.
The major shortcoming of the previous Immobilizer vessel was that it attempted to perform too many tasks: it was a light-duty carrier, an Interdictor, and a light cruiser wrapped into one. The result was an undershielded vessel that was easily damaged. Although the ship was generally kept towards the rear of a formation, this prevented the Interdictor from being used to its full potential.
The new vessel eliminates this problem by focusing on defence: it is heavily shielded for a ship of her size, and has a thick hull. In turn it is slow at sublight speeds and is only lightly armed: laser cannons for anti-starfighter use provide its ownly true defence, the ship's proton torpedo clusters being limited to a maximum of two firings (in theory, this gives the ship enough firepower to 'bloody the nose' of an attacking ship and then flee).
The new Interdictor sports high-output gravity well generators, a shift from the previous models. These generators, situated in globes atop the superstructure, are able to produce a gravity field similar in size and scope to an average sized planetary body, effectively blockading an entire system.
The Interdictor FSV is expected to replace the aging Immobilizer inside of a year, the modular hull allowing for quick and easy construction at any of the Empire's facilities. Existing Interdictors will be converted to the new design (or another vessel using the same hull), or reassigned to border patrol missions.

Then if this is not the case then you really should edit or edit this detail out. It makes it sound as if the tech does block off and entire system of planets.

Hey, he had a legitimate question, it did indeed appear to say you were blockading the whole system of planets, star and all.

No shit. When I say 'planetary system', I mean the area of one planet...

If they blockade a scope of a planatary body they would not block an entire plantary system but the same area as a planatary body.
blockading an entire system with a 600 meter ship would seem to be far fetched. It took something the size Center Point to blockade an entire system.
