Tightbeam Rentenna:
A technology first implemented on the Punsiher Pocket Cruiser, then incorporated into the Immolator Cruiser, the rentenna uses a tiny, fixed, short range transmitter, which can communicate with other tighbeam rentennas. Designed to pounch through even the most powerful jamming it is heavily encrypted, and can send sensitive mssages without fear of being intercepted. Not designed for long range communications, and non compatible with other forms of communication, the rentenna is primarily used for ship to ship communication between Belgardi vessels in heavy jamming.
Laser Gattlings:
A cylindrical formation of 5 barrels situated on a slightly overpowered traditional laser cannon, the laser gattling is a close defense weapon that can be used against both starfighters and missiles. The collection of barrels rotates at extremly high speeds, splitting the laser bolts into a multitude of bolts, though at only a fraction of the power. Laser gattlings are often used to through up waves of "flak" to shield certain areas of the ship.
Deciever Shield Masker:
A device created with the intention of confusing advanced targeting computers, the Deceiver generates a thin, uniform layer of energy over the ship's primary shields. This layer is thin enough that standard weapons fire passes unaffected through it- however, sensor emissions bounce off the masker, giving the Maelstrom a standard shield profile even if sections of the shield have been knocked out or reinforced with extra power.
Torrent Communications Jammer:
Rather than trying to subvert or prevent enemy communications, the Torrent system tries to overwhelm their systems by sending millions of useless transmissions out over numerous frequencies and wavelengths. The Torrent's messages swamp most receivers, and is most effective against small capitals or fighters that cannot dedicate any effort to filter out the spam messages.
Splatter Torpedoes:
Designed to aide in the detection of cloaked vessels, splatter torpedoes are fired from taditional warhead tubes, but instead of high explosives are filled with charged particles that are easily detected by standard sensors. Fired in a pattern, or at areas suspected to contain cloacked vessels, the particles are monitored by the ships sensors. If they form around an area, and create a definite shape, when cross checked against visiual or other sensor readouts of the area, then a cloak ship can be "seen". The sudden disturbance of the particles can also be monitored to follow the "wake" of a cloaked ship as it moves.
Description:
The largest vessel designed/constructed to date by Belgardi Universal and its shipbuilding subsidiaries, the Maelstrom was designed to fill the void in the Belgardi line-up of capital ships. Over twice the size of the Immolator, the Maelstrom fills a similar role to the Imperial Reign Class Star Destroyer- a fleet flagship as well as a very competent warship.
The Maelstrom is the culmination of Belgardi innovations, incorporating previous Belgardi technologies and introducing several new ones, making it one of the most advanced warships in the galaxy. Protected by heavy shields, thick armor, a boosting an impressive area of weapons (including ten devastating ultra heavy turbolasers) the Maelstrom is designed to duke it out with the best ships the Empire, Black Dragon Empire, and Galactic Coalition have to offer. Due to its size and complexity, a very limited number of these vessels are likely to be constructed. Currently only one exists, the namesake of the class, which was financed by windfall profits from Belgardi's acquisition of Agro Incorporated.
Like all Belgardi models, Maelstroms are available for sale, though it remains to be seen if any market exists for such a large, expensive craft.

*hurriedly edits crew, weapons*
The first vessel is already built. It shall be explained in the R&D RP.

Well then -back in the old building days I was - because having a n4ext generational ship at the same size seems pointless.
But now, we have the Reign as a command ship and the Astrus (soon to be renamed the Imperial-class Mark V) as the battleship.
But we are still left with the matter of crew for this Maelstrom-class. 10,000 is not enough - especially for the given weapon systems. I would say no less than 25,000 would be acceptable.
I have no objection with the design itself, just that one stipulation.
But again, you can expect task forces of Imperial warships to come bearing orders ot nationalization for any yard where a keel is laid down.

Um... actually, we've been deploying ISDIIIs as our mainline ships at 1600 meters. We've never built a 2000-meter ISD.
Trust me. I handled most of TNO's ship building for a long while.

That is how we have been rping them Krak - you should know this as the most aktiv r and der we have. The only two classes to share the 1600m length are the ISD and ISD II.
Considering we do not even use the I or II (We have a few but fro IC training purposes only), the III being the ISD that is most prevalent.
However, it is being phased out since the Astrus is going to be taking its place.
#16 2:55pm 06/09/05
Well where do you get your info that the ISD subvariants are all different lengths?
#15 2:29pm 06/09/05
Same as the super-turbolaser mounted on the Astrus I would wager.
I said ISD II, not ISD I - the ISD 29,000 including ground troops. The ISD had a crew of 42,000 *read X-wing Bacta War*. Our ISD III has 49,000 at 2000m, the ISD IV 51,000 at 2200m.

Actually there are 5 very notable turrets. The fifth one is located facing aft, behind and below the observation deck aft.

*cracks whip a Silus*
I'll teach you for doing a half-assed job!!!
Actually, I agree that green would be ugly. So unless someone wants a green ship...
Ultra Heavy Turbolaser-
A really powerful turbolaser. I included them because the picture has 4 very notable turrets, and as such I decided they would be the ships "main guns" so to speak.
They're not superlasers or anything. Just big turbolasers. Anyway, if they cause problems I can get rid of them.

Define "Ultra-Heavy Turbolaser". I know that Demo here was given a lot of flack a while back for trying to use these on one of his ship designs.
#11 7:34am 06/09/05
Exactly!
#10 7:18am 06/09/05
I'll show them! I'll do such a sub-par job painting this ship...!
#9 7:07am 06/09/05
I actually have other things I have to do. Important things. Responsibilities.
But I can't think of any right now. So I'll paint your ship; just don't expect me to be happy about it.
#8 6:23am 06/09/05
S'alright! I know the perfect man for the job...
Silus!
#7 6:15am 06/09/05
Not to mention the ocean of paint that would be required to complete one paint job.
#6 5:30am 06/09/05
Is the real ship green? Cause a green spaceship would be UG-LY, imho.
