Notes:

*4x-Phantom Short-Range Sensor Jammer- Designed to jam starfighter sensors with a high success rating. However, the power readings from this system make it easier for gunners aboard capital ships (who have access to more powerful sensors) to target the starfighter. Originally used on the A-Wing.

History/Description: Orginially conceived as one of the new forerunners in a Bothan military resurgence, the Azazel starfighter was to become the fighter of choice for Bothan commanders. Fast, well armed, the craft was well suited for use on Bothan Assualt Cruisers and would round out totally Bothan built task forces.

The Azazel line was started and large scale production was in full swing when the Amaer Kre'Fey regime collapsed in a typical Bothan fashion. The newer regime, idealgically opposed to the expansionist, millitaristic government which proceeded it, slowed Bothan military expansion and began to recoup costs from the period by selling technical plans and technology to the highest bidder, allowing the government to recover any losses, and help to pay to mainatain the expanded military.

The Azazel fighter's plans were sold in a private auction to the major shipbuilding subsidiary of Belgardi Ltd for an undisclosed sum. Starblaze and Belgardi executives saw both practical and commercial uses for the design: the fighter could be used by Belgardi's privately funded defense forces, as well as sold to numerous interested parties to whom and advanced starfighter would be highly valuable.

This decision being made, in a cost cutting and practical measure, a slight variant of the Azazel was designated to be the Belgardi only version of the craft. Dubbed the Cerebrus Tactical Interceptor, the craft is built on the same chasis, employs the same weapons, sensor and life support package. It does however contain a few minor differences.

Both fighters are slated for mass production. Estimantes put the Azazel in competition with other widely available fighters such as the X-Wing as a primary choice for high end planetary governments.

With the soft cap, does it matter how many slots it takes...?

Grevious, the TIE line doesn't really apply here. All the ships you mentioned are different craft - not varients. They're built on different hulls. This would be a ship built on the same hull, with different equipment installed.

Since the robotic part of the shipyard presumably only creates the shell of the ship, and techs and/or droids install the equipment, it is reasonable that it could be one R&D (imo).

I'd pass it as is, BUT the differences are pretty noteworthy and thus I'll difer to the standard opinion, which is 2 slots.

Two variants = Two different ships

The Empire has TIE Fighters, TIE Interceptors, TIE Advanced, and TIE Bombers. All have the same basic design, but each is a variant of the other.

Seems like this ship carries the same concept, so it is logical to create two slots for it.

*sigh*

C'mon Dolash, just approve it like you approve all the Cree'Ar stuff. :p

Can I just inquire as to why I need two R&D slots. I just want to understand your reasoning, so I can decide what I want to do with this tech.

So says Grevious, so shall it come to pass.

Yes, I would insist on a second R&D slot for the varient. I know its anal, but it avoids any arguement or confusion.

Hm. Sounds good. And in my opinion there's little difference between the varients so surely its' ok to have that. I'd approve it, but I feel the other mods might insist this would take up a second R&D slot for the varient, so I'll wait until others have spoken.
