PIM Den
Planetary Ionic Missle Defense NetworkBuild Time: 25 days per
Sheilding: 9,000 SBD
Damage per PIM: 50 SBD, 750 RU
Den: 3 luanch sites per planetary arc, 3 missles per launch
Range: Half the length of the Dameun system
Commonly refered to as the Pim Den among lower claw echelons, the Planetary Ionic Missle Defense Network is one of the many systems that keeps the Dameun race safe from outside influence. Multiple un-maned subterrainian based complexes located accross the planets surface store and supply the ammunitions for this network, each connected to the other via a thin repulsor tunnel network with which parts power and repair work may be supplied. On the surface these launch sites may appear to be nothing more than average scenery, requiring a very small area with which to luanch from, and any inconveinence from said luanch being able to be compensated for by any nearby Dameun makes the location for such sites unimportant aiestheticaly. Areas containing a luanch silo for PIM's are typicaly sheilded with Magnetic pulse ray sheilds to prevent EMP disturbances and average weapons bombardment.
Within the silo itself is a much simplified load/reload target aquisition and response system. The primary launch system consists of a repulsor network bringing the PIM to the shaft itself, from which the global sensor network transfers coordination commands and trajectory data on specific targets to the PIM itself as the missle charges for launch. This proccess is completed in rapid succesion with three other missles in the same launcher at once for rapid launch timing. Within seconds the iris covering the silo opens as the PIM emerge into flight one after another as the iris closes behind them, preping the next few missles for launch.
The PIM itself is complex in nature while simplistic in design. Based around a solid 200-kilogram cylinder of durasteel, this missles initial tests were based around the theory of force against retraction, but proved to be too little to late. As testing showed a missle of said components either was destroyed or knocked of course before it could reach its target, less it never penetrated its targets sheilds. A full rounded Ablative matrix was used to cover cylinder at first, which protected the missle more than adequatly against anti-missle fire but still refused to give the missle enough punch with which to break through ships sheilds.
The last additions the the missles armarment consisted of a new wave in rational thought among Dameun scientists. A modified Ion pulsar was implaced within the missles forward head. This pulsar would emmit millisecond bursts of Ion energy of the missles exact shape directly ahead of itself. These bursts enabled the missles to significantly weaken a small portion of sheild directly in its path to such a degree as to allow the missle to pass through it unabated. The Ion pulsar was also modified to deliver a pulse bomb type warhead when embeded to any degree within the vessel. This detonation would cuase ionization damage to everything within a 300-meter radius.
(OOC: This weapon is based off Three known Star Wars techs and perfectly explainable.)

by itself? if we are talking complete nuetralization (IE: total ships shutdown)

Yes, like a bunker-buster, but I want to know how much bunker the target has to have until the buster is rendered null.
One last thing, for clarification. Hypotheticly, an ISD II hops into system.
How long until it is neutralized.

you misunderstand kas, the Ion pulse is used to get past sheilding, its the ion pulse bomb that does the actual damage. Think of a bunker buster....

Yeah. I want a 25 day buildtime though.

Kas:
1 post prep, 1 post fire
3 missles per site, 3 sites per firing arc
Griff:
Obviously this is more powerful than a turbolaser, look at the HVGN and tell me thats a turbolaser equivalent.

My only problem is that the standard planetary defense weapon is the turbolaser, and it can fire only once a post. This missile system, if I understand it correctly, has more power than the turbolaser (ION weapon included), and can fire several missiles per-post.

Drayson, you contradicted yourself there.
Heir, multiples as in... ?
Also, this does have a recharge cycle, right? How does that work. You have 3 sites visible at one time, three missiles are launched from each site...

Multiples to completely knock out a ship, singles will still hurt it badly
#11 5:11am 04/09/03
Since when does a single ion blast short out an entire ship in one go? The planetary ion cannon on Hoth was an extremely powerful weapon, you know...

How much damage will the Ion pulse do? Is it like an ION cannon, in that it shorts the ship out instantly, or do you need multiple hits to disable the target.

the average pulse Ion bomb does 200m, this is a larger missle version so it needs to be larger radius.
the pulse ion cannon ignores total sheild strength and only effects the sheild partition in its path.
