GMP
Galactic Mapping ProjectFrom the outset, a grandious undertaking, expensive in building and a headache in mechanism the GMP will provide, when completed, a more complete and fuller understanding of the Galaxy at large without undue notice to the the very same Galaxy. The GMP operates on two fronts:
Detection
Using the highest powered sensor guided telescopes and such devices, Dameun scientists document each intra-galaxy site, taging them with a generic name until further analysis can be ascertained, logging it with as much information able to be atained via the means given, then passed on to phase two of said operation.
Analysis
A completely different division of GMP, the Analysis team is given the directive to ascertain galactic coordinates of a detected system, program a Scanner Probe and send it on its way. Once the Scanner Probe is launched then the Analysis team moves on to its next programing, for indeed one can see more than one can analyze. It can be a very long time before a Scanner Probe is listed missing before another is launched in its steed.
Scanner Probe
The SP orbits a system in hyperspace, jumping into real space to preform second long passive scans on a system until an adequate amount of information has been collected to send back to Dameo itself. On the planet a reciever always remains on collecting many hundreds of transmissions sent by SP's every few minutes as an SP really never stops its duty until destroyed. When low on power an SP merely stay in real space, converting the minor emisions of sunlight into useable energy in its cache, when unable to re-enter hyperspace the SP is automatically destructed via an internal command.

not easy at all, think random chance. Maybe .5% chance per planet participating in the GMP, so that even a group the size of TNO would only have a 26% chance of finding one..
...Currently only Dameo is so its pretty much a no chance in hell thing to find a hidden world...
EDIT: ....

How easily will this enable you to locate hidden systems. A complete systematic mapping of the entire galaxy will take eons, even with thousands of probes.

Interesting Idea.
