Weapon Classification

Weapon: Ultra Heavy Turbo Laser
Weapon Title: Kolard UltraHeavy Turbolaser (KHT)
Weapon Power Classification: A w-165 Planetary Turbolaser designed for space.
Power Drain: Drains all power but life support and communications for 10 sec. (one post)
Weapon Description:
The KHLD is the ultimate mobile heavy weapons platform. Armed with its companion the KHT, the KHLD is designed to be the guts of a small fleet.
The original design was conceived out of the idea that the standard Star Destroyer needed a facelift. -"Small fleets of say 2 Star Destroyers and a few companion backups are great for getting in and out of a system relatively fast, but they lack the major punch needed to make them highly effective." This quote was heard coming from the Commander Kas Katta, VC, the designer of this ship and weapon.

The KHLD is optimized for high power attacks on shielded medium to heavy cruisers. The weapon has the power of a w-165 Planetary Turbolaser, but is designed for the highly mobile platform that a star destroyer. It fires at a rate of one shot every ten seconds, and after every shot there is a loss of power for ten seconds to all major systems (except life support and communications) as the weapon recharges. If the weapon is fired as fast as it can, the KHLD ship will be shield-less, as well as missing it’s standard turbo lasers, engines, and hyperdrive, for the entire barrage.

Also, the weapon emits an electronic pulse every time that it fires. This pulse will mix the delicate and completely unique firing systems of any other KHLD in system, rendering it impossible for it to fire until the system is fixed. The fixing process is rather simple, and the repair droid assigned to the task can fix it in approximately 12 seconds. This makes it impossible to have more than one shot fired from these ships every 10 seconds, and also makes it impractical to have more than 2 of these ships in any system at any one time.

Weapon Power Description:
As said before, the KHLD is optimized for attacking shielded medium and large cruisers. While it can do substantial damage to a Super Star Destroyer, it’s small size and Achilles heal of shield downtime and pulse makes it unwise to pit the two together.
The true power of this weapon comes when it is situated as the heart of a small fleet. Positioned with two additional SD’s and five or six smaller ships to help defend it, the KHLD can take apart a fleet of Victory class SD’s in 5 minutes. It is also greatly useful for taking down shipyards. A KHLD can hop in-system, fire off 5 or six shots, and hop out of system before the enemy knows what has happened. The damage will be incredible. Months of work will be taken out in seconds. The weapon can turn even the thickest unshielded armor plating into slag in one shot.

Rping restrictions:
Standard "Super weapon" rules in place here, even though this isn't a super weapon. One post to "prime" one post to fire. After the first post, the "Priming" post is replaced with a "downtime" post. This is where the weapon is recharging, and is draining all power.

On Edit:

The weapon emits an electronic pulse every time that it fires.

Ok, it's a 20 day build time for the weapon, and a 7 day build time for the ship, making it a 27 day build in all.
Also, if a KDY and this KHLD are firing in system together, they don't desycronize eachother.

If it sits on a planet and fires up, it only takes a smart fella to put it on a ship and make it fire down.
I had some really good "ballancing" ideas, ones to make it weaker and a little fairer, but Dakkon made me take them out. Would you like to see them? **please don't hurt me Dakkon**

Oh, and the size should be bigger, but I don't know about 5000m. I mean, come on. That's really big. It's supposed to be the guts of a small taskforce.

Here is a suggested limiter I had thought up.

I have a problem with the .75 hyperdrive rating on a ship larger than an ISD.

Considering it's basically a KDY Advanced Turbolaser placed on a ship, I don't have a problem. My only thought it that the 'base' ship should be 5000 meters, so that it's 20 days to build instead of seven. Fits in with the planetary model that way.

Previous semi-superlaser weapons have been allowed at TRF before. I don't see any problem with that at all as long as the weapon doesn't have nearly the fire power of an actual superlaser. No more than 1/3, I'd say.

(Hint to Drakiss: Don't fark up my up-and-coming defense platform R&D. LOL)

The KHD is unkosher. If it smells like a superlaser, looks like a superlaser, breathes like a superlaser, it's a superlaser. It's a superlaser. Remove it.
