Description: Designed by the Inrokini Research and Development Corps. of the Chiss Parliment's House Inrokini, the Orion Class Space Station was designed to serve as a Diplomatic Outpost for the Chiss people. Mysterious, and Defensive, the Chiss People have yet to reveal there homeworld to any alien species, seen to be a threat by the Chiss' Military Forces.
Though designed to be a Diplomatic Outpost for meeting with Galactic Embassaries, the Outposts can also serve as Intelligence Offices for the various Intelligence forces serving the Chiss Enclave. In times of Crisis, the Installations may be converted to makeshift Military outposts, capable of carrying up to one hundred Chiss Phalanx each, as well as two Starfighter Squadrons for short range defense. Equipped with two Subspace Communications Disruptors, capable of emitting subspace particle fields, the Orion has the unique ability to sever enemy communications, as well as protect the installation from enemy scanning devices.
Advanced life support systems, as well as a wide variety of Diplomatic Advantages, such as Universal Translator Technologies, the Orion Space Station serves as the perfect outpost for Diplomatic Affairs throughout the Galaxy, though remains slow in Space Travel. Often totted by larger Capital Ships, the Outposts are moved from place to place, backed only with minimal thruster technologies able to move the ship at two MGLT.
Backup Power, and Shield Generators were installed in the event of a sudden, and unlikely attack. Initiated from one of the two Command Centers aboard the Station, the Backup Generators can provide extra power to the shields, or weapons until help arrives, or until the power supply is deminished. In the event of an extreme emergency, the Stations were equipped with Holographic Imaging Amplifiers, which are more commonly used to simpulate fleet battles as training for the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet. These small, yet mysterious image amplifiers have the ability to simulate a very realistic image of a vast amount of warships. Compounding the realism of the ship, Enemy sensors will also indicate that a ship has arrived out of hyperspace, but if fired upon, the bluff will soon be revealed, as the images will faid, and vanish after being impacted.
The Chiss Parliment Board of Research and Development gave the design four out of five stars for perfection, and ordered that the design immetiatly be put to use on the borders of the known, and unknown regions as soon as a prototype can be designed.
Designated Design Time: 30 Days

Looks fine to me.
Approved.
Need one more you do.

This needs to be approved before it gets lost in the stack.
#15 10:59pm 08/02/03
I won't approve this, because the R&D mods are to be announ ced soon.

I asked for a moderator to let me know, not a pigheaded amateur. After Kas Katta made it clear that the Moderators wouldn't inform me, I simply stated that it was fine the way it was.

Why ask a question if you don't want an answer?

Yeah.
Which is why Orbital stations almost always have better weapons loads than warships of similar size. BTW, Golans are underarmed, really. The Bavos Platforms are probably a better comparison.
#11 8:26am 07/02/03
Well, not really...
Different platforms means different power sources are usuable.
A ship might use a lightweight version of some reactor due to weight and speed concerns, the station meanwhile can use the heavier version as it is a stable base.

Sure you can. It's just that warships have big engines and hyperdrives, and stations don't.
But for power output to size, it works.

I think it's okay the way it is.... It's not ment to be a major Military installation, afterall. It's a station for Diplomacy and Intel. It should only need to hold out for a few minutes against an enemy, especially since I don't intend them to be far from the Unknown Regions.
I also agree with Dak.... You can't compare a warship to a Space Station. It's not what they're ment for.

By "we" I mean staff, not members.

Here's a link to some Imperial Space Stations that may provide good comparisons.

You can't compare battleships to space stations isstal, it just doesn't work!
Find that stats of a Golan station and compare.

Kas, be nice. If it's an orbital space station, take the engines out. They just take up space. Also, take a look at the stats for the MC90 Cruiser and the Republic-class Star Destroyer for a comparison.

We're not going to tell you if it's under powered, under shielded, or under sped. (;p) Look at approved R&D's to get a feel for what the proper armament and sheilding is.
