AGM R&D, OPERATION NOMAD
(OOC: Before youread this, I know this breaks several rules, and the chances of it being approved are lower then 50%, but it is an attempt to help give support to the lightside. As the current battles have shown, The Lightside is in trouble. One of the biggest problems is that we have planets. We need planets, you cannot fleet without them. But planetss are targets, planets can be attacked, thus making it near impossible to fight guerilla style. And there's loads of people in the galaxy, so you can whipe a planets' population clean and bring in colonists to destroy freedom fighters.
This is an idea to help counter this seemingly doomed situation)
Operation Nomad.
With war reaching across the galaxy, the Azguard High Command has realized that they will one day be attacked, and destroyed.
With no way they could think of to move all their people away from danger zones, a brilliant young mind in the field of starship engineering, Yhaosan Sibistan Bek began a bold design operation to create what has been known by only the highest up as The Wanderer.
It is a massive semi-circle vessel, capable of holding the population and supplies to run an entire planet. Vast chambers for agriculture, humungous districts, it was infact designed as one twelfe the size of Azguard. It would be capable of carrying the entire people and supporting them, and it was equipped with a hyperspace drive and sublight engines. This massive construct COULD be their new home.
But there was one massive, glaring problem. The amount of resources needed to support it would drain Azguard dry. So it was lain by the wayside.
But a group of engineers are starting to reawaken the idea, and people are starting to think. Maybe this would be what the galaxy needed. They could push out evil and let in good, and most importantly of all leave danger with innocents.
So now, the council of Twelve of the highest up Azguards ponder over the plans...
(This would function exactly like a normal planet except it can be moved around. perhaos ut would carry similar needs as that of the death star? Plus it would leave one world utterly dead by its' massive resource needs. This would, in effect, create a giant moving planet with shipyards and providing maintenance. A way to fight guerilla with the TRF rules, and a way to save entire populaces from the flame.
Speaking of flame, I humbly await moderater wrath)

Alright, I won't do it.
*Sigh*

Imagine the resources that such a device would demand. You would have to, literally, raid planets every other day just to keep running... Oh, and we know the stand-point on World Devastators.
So yes, Dolash, in my personal opinion you would still need to meet all the requirements of the Death Star. You'd need supply stations and so forth. Otherwise the staff would have to monitor the progress of your ship very closely and inform you just exactly what sort of major problems it suffers from day to day.
This project is very problematic, and unless you are very, very hard-up and planned on doing this, it should be dropped.
If you are, then I suggest you start your work.
I'm not sure about R&D time... Nor am I sure if it would qualify as started yet.

Um, I recently realised there is still a flaw in the "Replaces the death star" ruling.
The point of it is that we will be able to continue even if The Wanderer was the only piece of property owned by AGM. But because the Death Star rules point out you need to maintain 10 planets, then obviously the problem of "You have to defend your static resource stations" returns.
Its' just baisically a moving planet.

I think you're misusing the phrase "real Star Wars Universe".
Allow me to detail the three commonly accepted levels of legitimacy when speaking geek of Star Wars.
Cannon: This consists of the movies, a few televison spots and very, very few resource materials. Note that for something to be in this category it must directly involve the creator, George Lucas, himself. Items that are simply approved by him do not count, the belong in the next category.
Expanded (Universe): This consists mainly of the countless novels, comics and RPG resources released since the original three. Here you will find items authorized by Lucasarts/Lucasfilm though not nessescarily promoted or created by said companies. Commonly accepted materials include the Novels of the Expanded Universe, as well as comics and various other publised pulps. Role Playing Game sources and supplements also fall into this category along with a number of miscelanious and various other items such as Video Games.
Beyond (Star Wars): This is TRF and everything else. It encompases fan-fiction, net-based gaming, and so on and so on. You name it and you'll find it here. From massive constructed Worldships to hundreds of 'Super' StarDestroyers... Hybred Jedi/Sith/etc heros. Gross misuse of the limited power demonstrated in the core three movies runs rampant in this category and, most everything to come out of this feild is more then suspect.
(damn spellchecker...)

Yeah I know I was just stating that planets have been made by artificial means before...oh and his name is Bevel Lemelisk
#17 9:32pm 22/05/03
yup, captured by the republic. Even whats his name, the guy that made the blueprints for the Death Star, got to examine it before his execution.

These sound similair to the Worldcraft that the Imperial's made in the real SW Universe...Hethrir is the only one known to actually possess one though...n cos I like adding them I'm gonna add the details from the CUSWE...
Worldcraft
A huge, artificial planetoid created by the Imperial Engineers under Palpatine's rule. These huge planetoids were actually starships which could travel through hyperspace. The Emperor gave them out as gifts to his most trusted servants for their exemplary service. He gave one to Hethrir for his service as Procurator of Justice for the Empire, which Hethrir took and hid on while building the forces he needed to establish the Empire Reborn.

Considering youd have to wait some 80 days after u got them then, you might wanna do it now, then R&D...
#14 8:35pm 22/05/03
Well, I might as well wait until I have the Requisites for a death star before using an R&D slot for this then.
But if I ever do then I'll come back to this Idea.

I'm with Shree on this one.
And, if you don't plan on using the tech, I'd suggest you don't bother submitting.

Like I said then, If possible, Id say it would have to be a death star replacement. The fact youll never be able to build a death star, or have the req's to build one frankly isnt my problem, but if another staffer comes up with a better idea Im all ears to it.
Otherwise, work on some stats, a bio for research and ect for review in the mean time...

He doesn't want to use it to attack. It's unarmed. He wants to use it to base attacks from, be an elusive force with no place where an enemy can concentrate an attack.
#10 1:42am 22/05/03
I already know its gonna be a definate no if you wanna use this thing for hit and runs. A mobile homeworld MAYBE, but no attacking with...
#9 11:54pm 21/05/03
Sounds suspicious to me. Anyone else?
#8 11:29pm 21/05/03
Thats' the idea. That way I can hit and run, giving me a chance against large enemies.
These days it usually comes down to HOW MANY SHIPS HAVE YOU GOT?
If you have more, you win.
But if you have some way of dodging attacks, doing little raids, being stratiegic, then you can win. But seeing on how a larger enemy could just go full bore against your homeworld and you would have to react, it is very hard to work against the bigger groups.
This provides the basis for wars od attrition.
