Description

This craft is exactly what the name suggests, a Raider Gunship. Designed to be heavily armed with primarily ion cannons and other anti-systemary weapons, such as the MagPule (Magnetic Pulse) missile, the Dwight-Class Raider Gunship is to fly in, unleashed a massive volley of ion cannon fire, dock on the ship, and unload its troops.

Weapons riddle across the craft like a labyrinth of destructive power. Their weapons are not damaging, except for the quad laser cannons it holds to counter fighters coming in for strafing runs, though will cause enemy craft to subside and succumb to energy loss extremely quickly.

Named after the first and only commandant of the Jutraalian Marine Corps, General Teren Dwight, the craft is to hold several divisions of marines as boarding parties, who are well-trained in close quarters fighting.

Onboard the craft is an arsenal of infantry weaponary, in the instance that they find they are not bearing enough weapons to seize the ship they have just disabled.

However Dwight-Class Gunships are not expected to fight one on one. Rather they team up on and swarm the enemy warship, all the while the big ships attempt to distract its fire. It is very lightly shielded, though can move relatively quickly for a warship.

To clear the way for its attack however, the Dwights carry several MagPulse missile launchers to ensure that they are not hit on the way in.

As a whole the craft are expected to see frontline duty almost immediately after research and development.

Wow if I haven't seen stupidity at TRF I certainly have now.

Gonna have to agree

I agree. CGTs are rare - look at the effort it took the Republic to get one. Three decades isn't enough to make something that massive easily mass-produced.

You'll rule out the ability because, irregardless of time difference, your group is small compared to the NR of that day.

They spanned 1000s of worlds, you span about 7.

Can one of the R&D mods get me information on the construction of CGTs? Before I make any final decision, i need to know all about it.

No I'm not "@#%$ kidding you", I'm implementing something on a warship that let's me seek out gravity nearly thirty years after the Thrawn incident, when cloaks have become quite popular and the necessity to find them has increased.

So I understand we'll just rule out the ability to find cloaked ships because twenty five years ago it was hard.

Take off the CGT.

The new republic went through hell in a handbasket to get one, just one. And now you think they can just be thrown into a mass produced craft?

You're @#%$ kidding with me right?

Aye, the Rebellion originally got their hands on them, then used them to wipe out a fleet of Star Destroyers, though it was quite an expensive operation.

The Empire, under at the time Vice Admiral Thrawn, launched an all out raid to try and acquire these. They did, but Grand Admiral Zaarin launched his own raid and apprehended them and forced Thrawn out. The tech was lost to the Empire until just before the Battle of Endor.

The Alliance has had it since they first used it, but the Empire more or less lost interest.

The Mag-Pulse's r missiles...quite effective buggers that basically knock out the electronic systems on ships for a limited time...1 missile would knock out the systems on a Starfighter for about 2-3 minutes in the X-Wing: Alliance game if I remember correctly...although 1 missile would probably only knock out a single Turbolaser on a capital ship...don't quote me on that though as it's only speculation...I'll jus quote a description of them now...

The magpulse torpedo is something the Empire never expected. It was obviously designed by an outside agent, then remanufactured by the Rebellion. It is unknown where and how they got this technology, but after capture of several ships with the magpulse torpedo, analysis has shown that the torpedo generates a layered ionic field which acts like an ion pulse. The advantage is that it can pass through ray shielding and cause greater amounts of damage than an ion cannon. However, at 15,000c per torpedo, these are used sparingly by the Rebellion. The Empire is planning to use them as soon as they can fully analyze the torpedo's inner workings.

and another quote thingy from the CUSWE...

A weapon developed by Galactic Electronics for use by the Alliance on modified B-Wing fighters. Weapons of this kind don't cause immediate damage, but instead knock out starship systems for an extended period.

Mag ~ pulse?

Is it deployed and stored externally, such as say the cluster bomb?

And no in fighting. "My ship is like your ship only with less BLAH" is a bullshit thing to say. Say, well, if you have a problem with this, this can be changed.

Hell I just threw a number in there for the crew, I wasn't particularly paying attention to that.

But you're also disregarding that on the Twilight you have to hold two payloads of missiles (takes up a lot of space on the inside) I'm just transferring that space outside.

Staff?

This is more or less like Jake's old Ion craft thingy that was an all out ionic craft that was only a hundred or so meters, had I think 60-80 ion cannons.

I dunno. I see a pretty big difference between 7 weapons emplacements and 97, and a damn big difference between 18 crew members and 650. Oh, and of course the 600 RU hull of the TSG.

sounds surprisingly like the Twilight with no cloaking device and less shields.

*looks*

97 weapons emplacement.
650 crew.
Two troop divisions.
1000 SBD Shields
2000 RU hull.

And it's 100 meters.
