Height:150m
Width:300m
Crew:2,700
Troops:80

Hyperdrive Backup: x15
Sublight:20 MGLT
Sublight Backup:5 MGLT
Hull:960 RU
Primary Shields: Super Flicker Sovereignty Shipworks Shield Generators- 2,240 SBD
Backup Shields: Standard Shield Generators-1,078 SBD
Weapons:1 Sovereignty Shipworks Medium Particle Cannon
Onboard Craft: 24 TIE Series Fighters, 2 Light Shuttles
The Intimidator Cruiser is a modified version of the Enforcer Cruiser. It is to be stationed in the rear of the Black Hand fleet and be used as a long range weapon to damage Enemy ships enough so that Conventional weapons can finish them off. The cargo bays of the original Enforcer Cruiser have been replaced with the massive generators used to power the Particle Cannon and the Shields. The Super Flicker Shields are computer controlled shields that are dropped for only a fraction of a second while the cannon is fired. When the Intimidator is using it's backup shields the shield officer must rely on his own reflexes. It would be suggested that the shields are dropped right before the cannon is fired then restarted as soon as sensors show the projectile a sufficient distance away. The 24 fighters onboard are to be kept back for use defending the Intimidator against enemy fighters and missiles launched at the Intimidator.
Medium Particle Cannon Stats:
Targeting Range:80% of standard turbolaser range to 150% of heavy turbolaser range*
Cannon Range:Infinite
Rate of Fire: Once a Minute
Clip Size:10 Shells
Number of Clips Onboard:10 Clips
Damage: Standard 900 SBD or 700 RUS, Explosive 600 SBD or 900 RUs
The Medium Particle Cannon is a fixed weapon that is similar in position to the Superlaser aboard an Eclipse Star Destroyer. A series of electromagnets propel the projectiles at tremendous speeds. The only problem with the Cannon is that at ranges of under 80% of standard turbolaser range* the targeting computer is unable to function and does not allow the cannon to fire. The gunnery officer can turn off the targeting computer but this seriously affects accuracy and it takes 3 minutes for the computer to power back up.
Standard Shells:
To manufacture the standard shells texture-molding tractor fields hold the depleted uranium which the shell is made up of in place. The Depleted Uranium is then softened by ion fusers. While the alloy that results from this is cools, it is bombarded with charged-particle vibrating waves. This creates a dramatic improvement in each molecule's subatomic bonding strength. The resulting shell is much stronger then it was at the beginning of the process.
Explosive Shells:
The explosive shells start as depleted uranium shells with a small hollow in the main body of the shell. After the shell has been strengthened like the Standard Shells the hollow is packed with high explosive that is set to detonate after 3 minutes of flight time or 1 second after the shells velocity completely stops. The idea is that the main part of the shell burrows into the ships hull then the shell explodes severely damaging the interior of the ship.
Advantages:
-Strong Shields
-Good Range
-Great Offensive Punch
Disadvantages:
-Very little accuracy under 80% of standard turbolaser range*
-No Defensive Weaponry
OOC:
-The Particle Cannon fires once a post
-One clip is always loaded in the Cannon
-There is only one type of shell in the clip
-It takes one post to load a new clip
-The targeting computer is always on except when turned off by the gunner
-It takes one post to turn off the targeting computer
-It takes 3 posts to re-start the targeting computer
*Because of the descrepancies in the range information of turbolasers etc. I have just used percentages.
Note:Because of various conflicts I may be MIA during some portion of the R&D Approval process. If so Admiral Griff will be taking my position in the approval process

Droid Brain:
The main ship operations, such as operation, maintenance, weapons and the like are done by the droid brain. All of the other functions of the ship are run by an advanced AI. ORS, taking a cue from the Katana Fleet fiasco, has made sure to install certain safeguards and boundries so that the AI could not gain too much control over the ship, and there is an override code built into every Intimidator, that allows the Sovereignty Fleet to take control of the ship, to prevent it's capture.

As you wish.
#8 3:31pm 15/07/03
no, its a big gun with a ship built around it.
Hows this, scrap this R&D, go back to the drawing board and R&D this same weapon. Throw on engines and a sheild generator. Keep the size, seems appropriate for the weapon. Lose all the crew, troops, consumables, cargo capacity and onboard craft. Equip it with a droid brain or some such reprogramed thing and make it a self targeting/aquiring flying weapon. If youd follow this line youd also want to show how many rounds of each ammo it can carry at a time.

I do not understand. This weapon will not be used on any other ship. All this is is a big gun with engines and shields.
#6 3:51am 15/07/03
Unless beff or another R&D mod has made an agreement with you that I am not aware of, the afore mentioned stipulation still sticks, and until it has been met, not much we can do about it....
#5 10:18pm 14/07/03
*cough*
#4 10:21pm 09/07/03
It won't be implemented on other ships.
And the way i see it's a modified ship not to seperate systems. And without the gun it's uselesss. The R&D is really just one big gun with shields and engines and hull.

As for the ship itself...
Very well done. I have absolutly no issues aside from the potency of your back-up shield generators. I would like to see a reduction.
As for the Partical Cannon...
I believe this is your own innovation? Very nice. Well written and conceptual. However, I would like to see this weapon as an R&D submission of it's own. Especially if you plan to implement it on other ships.

ok thanks

I'm going over this one as you speak.
