CCB R&D 3 - Imamaih-Class Gunship

Designation: Imamaih-Class Gunship
Designer: Askar Vri’kre
Length: 240 M
Crew: 860
Passengers: 50 Troops (Security Personnel)
Cargo Capacity: 100 Metric Tons
Consumables: 1 Year
Hyperdrive: Class 1.0
Backup: Class 8.0
Sublight Engines: 28 MGLT
Weapons Systems: 18 Lasers, 8 Ion Cannons, 2 turbolasers
Shields-4 Shield Generators: 665 SBD
Hull: 590 RU
Support Craft: None
Fighter Capacity: None
Special Equipment: The Imamaih uses the Vanish 2 Sensor Mask system developed by Fabritech. This sytem combines electromagnetic and holographic transmissions to "hide" a starship from most sensors. This device doesn’t absorb sensor beams but, rather, disrupts them by sending back information on the environment surrounding a starship. The Vanish 2 makes a ship virtually disappear by sending back sensor data about the starfield around it.

Description:
The Imamaih-Class Gunship resembles an enlarged version of the Corellian Corvette, though it also has stubby four fin-like sections that start at the engines and extend 24m up the hull. There is one of these 'fins' on each side (top, bottom, left and right.) They serve no real purpose. Also, the front section is more rounded than the Corellian Corvette and curves around completely rather than ending bluntly. The bridge is visible from the exterior as a thin horizontal gash in this curved front section.

Vessel Role:
The Imamaih-Class Gunship was designed to complement the A'Krai-Class Heavy Cruiser in battle by eliminating hostile fighters while the A'Krai or other Bothan capital vessels eliminated opposing capitals.

Note: This Vessel takes one day longer than standard vessels of this size to build. This is because of the Vanish Two System.

If I remove the turbolasers, would that be satisfactory?

I'm thinking energy consumption, something that may not be 'official', but something to balance it out. If we were to build by the cost of a ship, having a Vanish 2 would increase the cost. But we use meters, so something needs to go to compensate.

thats not really a downside, more of just a tactic to be used against it...

The main problem with the Vanish Two is that while it renders the Gunship invisible to sensors, it has no effect on visual targetting methods. So, while computer targetted missiles and turbolasers would be useless against a craft equipped with the Vanish Two, a gunner could still manually target it.

Ok, I'm just concerned about suddenly everyone slapping these on their ships and saying "Can't shoot me, I'm invisible!"

What's the downside to activly using the Vanish 2?

Edited as requested.

Now for the Vanish 2. First, obtaining it. I'm sure you are aware of the extensive Bothan Spynet mentioned in the movies and the novels. Now, I'll admit that our faction isn't likely to have developed the spynet to quite that level, but it is there, heck, my character is the one in charge of it. Now, isn't it feasible that if Bothan spies were capable of stealing the plans to the Death Star, they'd be capable of stealing the designs for a sensor mask?

Or, if that explanation doesn't float your boat, there's always the possibility of the Bothans aqquiring one, possibly from the invisible market, and giving it to the researchers to reverse engineer. Though Bothans may not be the most scientifically adept of all the species in the galaxy, their top scientists are likely more than capable of taking apart a sensor and figuring out how it works.

Now for the cost. There are a number of things that must be considered here. First, if you accepted either of the above explanations for how they learnt how to produce the sensor masks, then you can safely assume that the Bothans would then sell on the plans to a few of their trusted allies. Also, there's the revenue provided by the Bothan Spynet's 'mercenary 'operations (Basically, when the Bothan Government is paid to have it's spies do something.). Then there's the fact that two worlds have just 'joined' the CCB (Kothlis and Ryloth) bringing their resources with them. Oh, and also, producing them on Bothawui is cheaper than buying them from the manufacturers, but this only applies if you accepted one of our explanations of how the bothans would obtain the sensor masks.

Is this acceptable?

Your shield and hull ratings are high; drop them by around 200 each.

I find your sublight speed much too high, the most consistent speed ratings I find on the Internet are from 20 to 30 for the Corvette.

The Vanish 2 sensor mask is very difficult to obtain, and quite expensive, how have you overcome these obstacles?
