The Aegis line (General R&D)

These are the stats I use for the Aegis line, straight from Hangarbay.tripod.com. The only thing missing are shield stats, from what I've heard they're fairly weak.

Designed as Kuat Drive Yards' answer to the Sienar Fleet System Immobilizer 418 line of cruisers, the Aegis cruiser and Aegis line looks a lot like the Imperial Star Destroyer, only smaller. This is not surprising, when it is considered that the Aegis cruiser was designed by the same team that designed the Imperial and Executor class Star Destroyers. The Aegis cruiser performs primarily as a picket ship and fast escort, replacing the old Dreadnaught and the aging Victory Star Destroyers. Not as expensive as an Imperial Star Destroyer, and nearly as powerful, the Aegis Star Cruiser is only half the ISD's size. However, its downside is limited starfighter and troop holding capacity. Moreover, the Imperial Star Destroyer is twice the Aegis Cruiser's size... and fear is a powerful ally.

When Sienar produced the Imperial Class II Star Destroyer, KDY needed to upgrade its Aegis Star Cruiser to keep up. The Aegis mk.II was born only a year after the first Aegis mk.I Cruiser. The only upgrades to the mk.I were in drive systems and weapons, with the Turbolasers upgraded to Heavy Turbolasers. While the mk.I was produced at the Gyndine, Corporate Sector, and Fondor factories, the mk.II was manufactured only at the Kuat Drive Yards and Byss.

Deadlier than the common Imperial Escort Carrier, the Aegis Star Carrier serves the same function: to carry TIE Fighters to battle zones when Star Destroyers or larger craft are not available for the task. The need for such a carrier was apparent because the Escort Carrier could not stand up to enemy Frigates. Sienar responded with the Interceptor, and Aegis responded with the Star Carrier. Heavily armed, the Star Carrier was a cruiser in its own right, able to defend itself from medium-size cruisers and capital ships. Despite the heavy weaponry, the Aegis Star Carrier is usually limited to starfighter transport. The Star Carrier holds a whole wing, six squadrons, of TIEs. Despite such qualifications to its credit, the Star Carrier is not widely used because of its purchase and maintenance cost. It is produced only at the Gyndine and Fondor yards.

I am with Kas. 1500 SBD and 1200 RU, with the same build time.

I think the build time should stay the way it is. The reason these ships have the amount of weapons they do, is they drop the added crew and ground troops. As Lei informed me a few weeks ago, the Star Destroyers are designed to go for days of battle, or arial bombardment. They have many crews, for multiple shifts. One crew gets tired; and they trade off with another shift.

The SD's also pack a significantly larger compliment, with 12 landing barges, 30 AT-AT walkers and 20 AT-ST walkers. They also have three times the fighter capacity as the Aegis'. They are designed to dominate entire star systems, all by their lonesome.

The Aegis line is designed for one thing, assault against large capitals. It has a large amount of weapons systems to aid in this, but the trade off is a weak shield system (under 2000 SBD) and only a shift and a half of crew.

Crew differences:

Aegis crew: 8000
Imperator II crew: 37,085

That's a lot of free space right there.

So, while the Star Destroyer is a do it all, occupy the system and keep imperial peace, the Aegis line is for spacial war only. They're cheap, but you get what you pay for with them.

So, I vote for a 1500 SBD and 1200 RU hull/shield rating for all three of them, and the build time as it is.

I vote up the build time.

this ship is a smaller equiv of the SD, it was built that way/described that way/is that way. Theres no denying it, so unless we ignore the way its supposed to be and up its size or other alternitive is to up the build time.

I don't exactly like that, but my likes and dislikes don't count. Whatever you mods think is fine is what I'm going to follow.

Id also give the Aegis-class Star Cruiser and Aegis-class Star Cruiser Mk.II a two to three day build time increase to make them the equivalent of the ship they are based off of and the equivilate the amount of weapons aboard...

I don't count, but considering the amount of weapons they have, that sounds good to me.

1,100 - 1,300 SBD
900-1000 RU

sound good?

I don't want to annoy anyone, but it ould probably be easier if the staff agreed on a shield/hull rating on the Aegis line, jsut to make things simpler later on.

Just a note, I have heard from Isstal once or twice that the Aegis line had very weak shields, which is not surprising, looking at how many weapons it has.
