Sensors: In addition to the standerd senors the ship contains 1 Omni-vu sensor package and 2 LongView-328.X jacked into a Universal Transceiver. The last system is a very new very experimental 'Wake' senor system**

Counter measures: 2 X Magnetoran Sweeps, 2 X Mimic launchers, 1 X Nightshadow, 1 X Screamer ***

Purpose:
This vessel was designed by the Bartokk science core to reduce the effectiveness of opposing fleet's, by targetting the very thing most pilots and captains rely on to effectively conduct a battle, sensors and communications. At the same time the Shadow Source also delivered a boost to its own fleet's preformance with increased sensor capibilities and communication's relay.

Notes:
* The Mushroom missle system can be safely described as a missle chaff system, but in conforming with the ship's purpose the chaff the missle releases is tiny sensor-distorting durasteel particles. Open its release these particles form giant clouds on enemy and friendly sensors. It's use is mainly reserved for defensive engagements.

** The Wake sensor system is designed to nulify oposing cloaked vessels. It is a basically an addon to existing system. When activated the sensor constantly eject energy particles in a fixed area around it. Then normal sensors take over and monitor this sphere. If at any time the particles is disturbed for no apparent reason this points to the location of a cloaked ship. This sensor system has its own seperate computer to constantly keep track of all designated ships and collate information from the sensors regarding the status of the sphere. However due to the massive amount of information being processed there is a chance the sensor might miss a cloaked vessel. Effective range of the system is 2 kilometers.

*** The Magnetoran Sweep is a wide-beam device that is used to disrupt targetting computers. The Mimic is a sensor drone that sends out sensory information along electromagnectic and holographic frequencies to make itself appear to be a real starship. The NightShadow system baffles and deadens the various emmisions of the ShadowSource providing a measure of protection for the ship. And finally the Screamer also a system designed to disguise ship emissions. This time its is targetted on friendly ship's ion drive emissions.

I not Askar will make the changes. :b As for getting rid of that last part for the NightShadow it is done. As for the range of the Sweep would 50 kilometers be acceptable.

The NightShadow. This form of countermeasure was used to baffle, or deaden, the various emissions of a starship, including engine exhaust and communications. A smoother, more rounded hull was more effectively baffled than an angular hull.

Thats what it does

Although it was designed for use on a single starship it has been that by use of simple carrier wave another ship's emmisions could be deadened as well. The number of ships 'protected in this way is limited to the size of the targetted ship and the numbers of ships under its sphere of influence

3. It would have been better if it were just the feild and not a sweep, but its ur choice. What sort of range where u looking for here?

5. You can have the Nightshadow as it was, but none of this carrier wave stuff that you added. The NightShadow was more counter-measures built into the vessel and less computer systems that could be spread across a fleet.

Very well, to answer your questions.

1. Active sensors work on the principle of emitting energy (in any form) and then receiving it and interpreting it. A cloud of sensor distorting durasteel particles in the way of these emmisions would muck them up by relecting them and throwing them back at the sensors. Passive sensors would probably be able to pentrate the cloud since they receive energy in every shape or form ie heat from engine emmisions. This is the space adaptation of the Caltrop 5 gun developed by Arakyd. *

2. I am willing to remove all the lasers, increase the lenght to 400 meters. And cut the range to 2 kilometers. I would then like to increase the rating to 701 SBD. Would that be acceptable for us to employ the Wake. The Wake system will also be unable to detect cloaked vessels immediately. It will have to be charged up first -> the sphere established.

3. The Magnetoran sweep. A generator that creates a very powerfull, very peculiar electromagnetic field. The frequency of the electromagnetic field is set to precisely that of most brand of targetting computers. The field is compressed into a carrier wave which is emitted from the ship. As it travels along target locks can not be maintained anymore on any ship caught in the wake. Protectection is deviced from knowing the frequency of the wave. *

4. The Mimic. A brand of sensor decoy was produced by MerenData to compete with the Corellian Engineering Trickster drone. Like the Trickster, the Mimic sent out sensory information along electromagnetic and holographic frequencies to make itself appear to be a real starship. The ship it mimics is usually the parent ship, but it can be programmed to duplicate other ships. After the drone is launched it will fly around in a random patern, avoiding obsticles. After the fuel has run out the drone will still continue to emit its false sensor images but it will continue in its last vector. *

6. The Screamer. This was the name of Bertriak's active jamming system. It was used to disguise a starship's ion drive emissions to prevent long-range detection as well as missile and targeting locks. This system was modified to project a sphere that deadnes ion drive emmisions. *

Notes

-> The chaff missles will be strictly reserved for defensive engagements. Or for desperate situations. What they basically do is create 'clouds' on opposing sensors. Unfortunatel this will happen to friendly sensors as well. They will be unable to affect passive sensors. While the clouds will pose no threat to capital ships they will however pose a threat to snubfigters by lowering shields as the particles impact on the shields. And if the fighter remains to long in the cloud tearing into the hull.

-> The Wake system will basically require two post to detect cloaked vessels. One to 'charge' up (establish the sphere) and another one to detect the vessel. But this is only if the cloaked vessel is moving and disturbing the sphere.

-> The Magnetoran will sweep will disrupt active target locks on all vessels caught within the wave including missle locks. But it does not prevent enemy ships from reestablishing their locks. It also takes two posts to become active. One to charge up and another one to transmit the wave.

-> The Mimic drone will look and act like a real starship. It will take one post to fire. Afterwards it will fly around in a random patern, making one attack run on a random hostile ship. The choice however is up to the pilot wether he goes after this preceived new threat or if he ignores it. The drone can fly around for about 10 posts before it runs out of fuel.

-> The NightShadow will hide ships emmisions, does greatly reducing passive sensor systems that rely on those emmisions to aquire ships. Due to fact that this system was orignally designed for use on a single starship the ships hiden by it will not be hidden 100%. Enemy ships enaging such a 'hidden' ship will have a very difficult time aquiring it.

I read the Essential Guide to Weapons/Technology the other day, and I say something called a Screamer that was placed on an X-wing that would interfear with the homing device on a concussion missile/proton torpedo. Therefore the technology is cannon, but not in the sense he is talking about(I think, could be wrong, I don't have the book here. It is a B(insert various letters here, for company name) Screamer, or something. People will probably differentiate between his and yours, quite easily. Also, it was listed as part of the sensor suite(I think, could be completely wrong about this part). If you want I can quote some stuff on it from the book.

Could you describe each system in more detail, how it works, how its emitted, the proccess of it. And as a note, theres already a system called the screamer, on BDE's Banshee.

1. How do durasteel particles distort sensors?
2. Wake system = No, unless you want to make this ship huge what your asking would require massive ammounts of energy lest it be uneffective completely. On this current ship Ill give it a 100m range at most.
