Other Equipment: Standard Sensors Package
Engines
- Sekotian ZY-100 engines pack a punch for their size. There are four of them installed on the Scimitar cruiser while the larger “Xyto” cruisers use a different type of engine. Although the engines are different, they still use the crystal start mechanism. This will save lives in the long run. The ZY-100 has been designed by Sekotan/ORS/TTR mechanics to be the newest in stealth engines. It is designed specifically for stealth purposes. The power generators, which supply power to the engines have been covered with special durasteel plating to reduce the radiation emissions. Noise from the engines has been greatly reduced due to newer and smaller parts for the engines.
Maneuvering Jets
- The addition of inlayed maneuvering jets will allow for faster turning as well as better maneuvering ability in combat. The jets, when needed, extend out from the hull in order to activate.
C3 Computer
- Built by Comar for use in the Tri-Tracker, the Countermeasures Compensation Computer attempts to account for the jamming and evasion devices used by its targets. The C3 extrapolates the target's continued trajectory and feeds that into the targetting device
Ion-enabled Sensor Tag
- This form of targeting system was used during the last decades of the Old Republic. Starships equipped with this system could fire an ion-shielded tag at their target. The ion shielding served to drain the target's protective shields, while the tag lodged itself onto the hull and provided a guidance mechanism for volleys of nano-missiles
EXVR-1 Guardian Grid
- This was the name of an ion generation field produced during the height of the New Order. Known as an ion defense grid, the EXVR-1 was essentially a durasteel tunnel lined with wide-pattern ion cannons. The EXVR-1 could unleash a barrage of intense ion energy on any ship passing through it, rendering the electrical and computer systems of the craft inoperable and, in many cases, permanently damaged. (NOTE: On the Scimitar, each EXVR-1 Grid contains 4 Ion Cannon Emplacements)
- Gravitic Shield
A rare form of starship shielding that uses an anti-graviton field to counteract the effects of a gravity well projector. A few Imperial assault ships were built with this type of shield near the end of the Galactic Civil War.
- Merilang-1221
This device was a full-spectrum numerical analyzer, and was designed to process incoming transmissions for any numerical encryption. It is used to quickly decrypt intercepted transmissions.
- Vanish 2 Sensor Mask (Upgraded)
Developed and manufactured by Fabritech (And later modified by ORS technicians), this device combined electromagnetic and holographic transmissions to "hide" a starship from most sensors. This device didn't absorb sensor beams but, rather, disrupted them by sending back information on the environment surrounding a starship. The Vanish 2 made a ship virtually disappear by sending back sensor data about the starfield around it.
- Corrupter Cloaking Generator
There will be a seperate R&D submission for this.
- Retractable Weapons Cannons
After reviewing recent battle reports, it has come to the attention of ORS and TTR military officials that weapons cannons mounted on the hull of a ship presents open targets to enemy gunners. To combat this, all weapons cannons on the Scimitar are retractable. They go through three phases in order to fire. One, the cannon comes out of the hatch in the side of the hull. Two, the cannon fires. Three, the cannon retracts into the hull, recharges, and is ready to fire again. The rails on with the cannon moves have been coated with lubricant to counteract the slow moving cannon. This assures that the cannon can move into firing position and retract quickly.
- ASG (Advanced Sonar Generator)
Cloaked ships are very difficult to detect, and in some cases, completely undetectable. This is because sensors rely on the sound emissions, engine wake, communication, and other variables to locate a ship. When a ship is cloaked, these factors are nonexistant. However, while the ship is cloaked, it is still there. It is still in normal space, it is just hidden. The easiest way to combat this is to use a sonar system. The Scimitar utilizes hundreds of sonar generators, placed strategically on it’s hull to send out a sound beacon. Once this beacon strikes something, like the hull of a ship, or a planet’s atmosphere, it immediately ‘bounces’ back to it’s origin point. An operator then records the incident, therefore detecting a cloaked ship.
EDIT: Got rid of the other sheilds.

We hadn't planned on taking so much as to cause that. It's going to be one of the limits on the design. This will be confined to this ship design primarily and possibly some smaller vessels and wont take a whole lot for each ship.

Cirrifog
this is the name given to the thick, pearlescent microcrystals found in the atmosphere of Monor II. Billions of these microcrystals can be found in a single cubic meter of air, and breathing them is hazardous to most races because it shreds the delicate tissues of the lungs. The native Sunesi have evolved the ability to breathe it, and it plays a large part in the change from young Sunesi to adulthood. Juveniles of the species cannot survive long without it in their atmosphere, and require it in order to create the protective coccoons used during their metamorphosize into adults. The cirrifog was found to be useful in certain applications during the early days of the New Order, shortly after Eujustus Kline discovered it. The Empire began mining the microcrystals, and extracted so much of them that the juvenile Sunesi were threatened. Agapos the Ninth spoke out against the Empire, and was condemned to death.
Not very light-sidish of you to condem the entire race to death. You should probably do some fancy writing in your RP giving reason as to how mining these will no longer hurt the species.

K.
#12 3:13am 03/10/03
Well, once thats done, and proof of access to these crystals is provided, and thats approved, we'll move onto this.
#11 1:48am 03/10/03
I'm working on a new and legal crystal thank you very much. The crystal is in Cirrifog which is in the completely unnofficial encyclopedia. As soon as that's done we'll get back to this.

Well, the cloak was denied because it violated the rules. (i'm assuming this is linked to the other joint TTR-ORS r&d that invented some crytals)
So, unless i'm wrong on that count, this R&D can't be approved.

No duh.

Got rid of two of the sheild types should take care of that power reduction. Anything else?
#5 9:23pm 24/09/03
This is just a start...
For a ship which carries so much in the way of stealth technology, the lack of a dedicated roll in use scares me some. I would like that considered.
Please choose one form of sheilding or the other. These have massive power demands as well as space-demands aboard ship, considering the size...
Guardian Grids are a problematic technology, filled with all the bugs you'd expect. I have no problem if you use them, as long as this is noted.
Merilang 1221 - Nothing, and I do repeat, nothing is perfect. This had better not become a god-mode utility.
The same goes for the Vanish sensor mask & the Advanced Sonar tech. I like the idea, just don't make me regret it?
I'd like to see either a minor reduction in power or a size increase of about 50 meters.
The cloak will have to wait as it is currently under speculation of the highest degree.
However, while the ship is cloaked, it is still there.
Not true in all cases, though affirmative in the case of the Imperial Cloaking Device... against which it would be quite effective.

I designed it, with some input from Kamon. Kamon gets all the credit for the cloaking device.
Just tell me what to edit, my friend.

I think this ship may be a tad over-powered for it's size. I may recommend an increase.
And just as a note for all the fancy (very nicely worded) technological stuff: There is no such thing as a perfect Technology. I don't want this ship to become a somantics point, as it seems quite well done.
~goes to work~
Mwah!

Stealing the "Vanish 2" System eh Griff? *cough Inamiah Gunship
:b
O well, I guess you'll put it to good use.
PS- I know its cannon, but we still used it first:b

Yup. This is another ship in the Xyto line. Hope ya like it.
