About the General R&D's..

Submissions are available for anyone to build, provided you have the proper In Character connections. EG: A new lightside group couldn't build an Empire-specific Star Destroyer, as they would not have the plans.

eh?

Why have we started doing this now?, I understand the thinking behind it (lets face it its logical), but people at TRF have always been able to build whatever they want (as long as its official) , without having to worry too much about this. It seems like a subtle policy shift.

Now as you all know I lead a neutral faction, (well for the sake of argument, lol) and since day one I have always built, well, just about anything that floats my boat. Which includes; Mon Cal cruisers, Hapes Nova Cruisers, to Imperial Star destroyers.

Now , with this new rule, as a neutral faction, where does this leave me?

Am I able to build those New Republican ships? or Imperial, or neither...

I already have in my manifest , Hapes nova cruisers, VSD's ISD's, and Mon cal cruisers , now it seems odd that I am able to have these, yet not any of these General R&D's.

I can understand if they are group specific, then fair enough.

I'm not trying to confuse people or gain an unfair advantage or anything, it just seems like a grey area to me, and kind of contradictory.

I actually do have some unofficial ships already built which I have yet to stick up in here as general R&D's (they were built before this rule , and I haven't had the chance to put them up yet).

Chances are they are probably either Imperial or Republican , so under these rules I can't actually build them yes?...lol

I guess I'm looking for some clarification on the matter.

Also.... I'm a little confused as to whats official and not offical right now, and I was wondering if one of you kind Mods could take a gander at Vc's manifest to weed out those that I will have to post up in here to get approval as a General R&D.

What's that vengeance super cruiser. I've never heard of it. Not that it's not cannon or legal or anything just wondering.

yes its Isstal's fault, its always Isstal's fault, I burned my toast this morning, and I'm sure I caught sight of him running out the kitchen...

4 Tractor Beam Projectors
26 Double Laser Cannons

Fighter Capacity
One Squadron - 16 MM starvipers (7m each)

Other Ships
Two Shuttles - 1 Lambda-class; (20m)
1 Gamma-class - (30m)

Era Introduced
Height of Empire

Built on the same flame as its predecessor the Enforcer, the Protector is a faster and more heavily armed flanking and escort ship. It is the fastest and most maneuverable of the SFS Immobilizer series, and can pack a deadly punch against small cruisers with its twenty quad laser cannons and six ion cannon batteries, and against starfighters with its twenty-six double laser cannons.
Its engines are capable of producing 80% of the forward thrust of a TIE. Most of its weaponry's needed parts are already in the factory inventory, as the Protector uses the same double laser cannons, mounts, and targetting sustems as the standard TIE/ln.

Eight turrets are effectively mounted on the poles of each of the four spheres that mount the gravity well generators on the Interdictor, creating a deadly tracking system to repel attack starfighters.
The Protector spells certain doom for any Rebel attack, but was rejected by the Imperial navy, unfortunately, because some admirals thought the concept of calling on a specialized ship to defend an Imperial Star Destroyer was insulting.
Some Protectors have been sold to the CSA, or are in the employ of Imperial Customs. Despite the Protector's weaponry and speed, it still lost to the Lancer Frigate in the trials for the Fleet Anti-Starfighter Platform competition.

Surveyor-class Scout Cruiser:

Designer/Manufacturer
Sienar Fleet Systems
Combat Designation
Medium Cruiser/Escort Carrier

Length:

Weapons:
16 Quad Laser Cannons

Fighter Capacity:
One Squadron (recon) - 16 MM Starvipers. (7m each)

Other Ships:

2 Gamma-class shuttles (30m each)
200 probe droids
3000 remote sensor buoys

Era Introduced:
Height of Empire

An impressive asset to the Imperial navy, the Surveyor is Sienar Fleet Systems' most powerful scout craft. Providing real-time tactical intelligence and targetting data back to a fleet, the Surveyor is capable of scanning entire systems by itself, a distinct advantage over smaller recon TIEs. The Surveyor is equipped with an incredible array of sensors, communications equipment, a Crystal Grav Trap, Hyperwave Signal Indicators and a large number of probe droids and sensor remotes.

To provide the communications capabilities needed in this kind of vessel, it is equipped with a Mk 30 subspace transceiver fitted with a Class IV power booster, over fifty tight beam communications lasers, a powerful communications jammer and a full HoloNet Tranciever. The brains of the ship are occupied in a pair of Series 50 mainframes, which provide more computing power than many planet-based systems. The Surveyor is visibly distinguished from the Interceptor only by the hundreds of thousands of antennae sticking up out of the hull.

Because of this ship's power, it was fitted with the most state-of-the-art anti-theft system. A self-destruct system is activated by one of three ways: 1) entering the command destruct, which starts a two minute count down; 2) remote command from an officer equivilant to that of the rank of Grand Moff or higher; and, 3) failure to reset the timed switch once per duty watch. In form, these craft are nearly indistinguishable from the Interceptor.

Kiltirin-class Dungeon Ships:

This Rendili StarDrive starship was a scaled-down version of the Lictor-class dungeon ship, measuring 150 meters in length. It required a crew of 115, with 50 additional guards, and could carry up to 1,250 prisoners and 275 metric tons of cargo. It was armed with up to five quad turbolaser batteries and a single tractor beam projector

*These stats were taken from the unofficial SW encylopedia.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Right those are the stats for the craft you've asked for.

#11 3:49pm 21/10/03

Well, the Nebulon-C fast frigates , are basically upgraded neb's

(Imperial)

I got the stats from the Galactic Empire.org site , which seems to be down now (typical, heh).

Though I still do have the stats.

I'll post 'em.

The ones seen in RotJ are Nebulon B Frigates.

The ones Omnae mentioned, with the "split V" formation are Nebulon B2 Modified Frigates.

They were invented for the computer games.

One of the one's in Chadd's propaganda is a Nebulon G frigate, which exists only in that picture and as a creation at some SWRPG sites. It's the one with four "arms".

There are also Nebulon Ds, another RPG creation, and probably several others.

#9 8:53pm 14/10/03

That's a Nebulon B, I think. Or, it might be a C.

#8 8:08pm 14/10/03

Isn't the Nebulon C that redesign Neb cruiser I've saw in some TRE/TJE Propaganda stuff a while back?

Instead of a verticle hull under the bow, it was split to look like an upside down "V"?

It may have been a TJE/TRE R&D ...

I've heard of the Neb C, never seen stats though.

If the Protector and Surveyor are from hangerbay, thats cool then.

Acclamator-class military transport ship

Stats appear in the Episode II Incredible Cross Sections book, if anyone wants to dig it up.

Protector-class Escort Cruiser
Surveyor-class Scout Cruiser

Both from Hanger Bay, which is an "approved site", I believe.

Nebulon-C Fast-Frigate

Never heard of it.

REC Warrior-class Gunship

Nope. It's a canon ship, from the Black Fleet Crisis. Stats came from members.tripod.com/dex_10/index.html

Kiltirin-class Dungeon Ship

And again, never heard of it.

Acclamator-class military transport ship*
Protector-class Escort Cruiser*
Surveyor-class Scout Cruiser*
Nebulon-C Fast-Frigate*
REC Warrior-class Gunship (wasn't that a LFX Industrial R&D??)
Kiltirin-class Dungeon Ship

As far as i know, these are the potential problem craft. Then again, thats just because i don't recognise them, which doesn't make them non existent, but merely makes me ignorent of them.

Provide links, and we'll continue from there.

I think the original ones were upgrade liners(MC-40s, MC-80a and MC-80Bs, plus maybe Home One), but the MC-90s and Viscount Star Defenders were never liners, they were designed specifically for war. Viscounts are only GC/TNO designs(I think), cause they are rare, and both Corellia and Mon Calamari produced them. MC-90s were not rare, so you could probably build them.

Avatar
#3 4:56am 04/10/03

Shite, you've built Hapan ships? I should start hanging around VC again. Expect an envoy soon sethner!

Yeah, they were upgraded liners.

And i'd like to think that my Hapan MK II range is quite Hapes specific. Hell, i'm loath to see others build normal hapan ships, so hell will freeze over before the MK II range is publically available through anyone other than me.

#2 6:11pm 03/10/03

Example. A General R&D is posted, it's for a Super Star Destroyer someone saw in a game, and managed to scrounge up incomplete statistics for. The ship was built (in the EU) maybe once or twice, and was blown up each time. Now, obviously the Mon-Cal's could go out and build this, unless they Role-Played out a convincing theft or discovery of the plans. The ship is empire specific.

This differs from the standard fare of 'canon' ships. Anyone can build those unless it was mentioned in the RPG guide, the novel, or the movie that it was a rare design. We're running on the assumption here that everything in the movies has been distributed all over the galaxy.

The group-specific rule only applies to something that was actually rare Canon-wise.

Ships are official if they have canon stats from published sources, or accepted websites (hangar bay, CUSWE) or if they have been R&D'd.
