TTR R&D: Cardigan Fighter
Name: Cardigan FighterManufacturer: TTR Industrial
Designer: StarCorp
Designation: Starfighter
Length: 9.5 meters
Width: 2 meters
Height: 2.5 meters
Personnel: 1 pilot
Consumables: 3 days
Shields: 60 SBD
Hull: 50 RU
Speed: 155 MGLT
Maneuverability Rating: 125 DPF
Hyperdrive: 1x
Weapons: 4 KX9 Laser Cannons, 1 Concussion Missile Tube
Equipment: Standard Sensors, Comm. Unit, and Jammer.
Cockpit: Similar to the design of the X-wings cockpit, it’s mounted directly above the engine system and allows the pilot a good view through the wing pylons. The main body of the ship is 2.5 meters of the total length and houses the engines, shields, and other necessary systems.
Wings: Set at 135 degree angles with the hull, the wings stick out the remaining 5 meters of the meterage. There are four of them located on the ship and they hold the laser cannons on them. The design is based off of the Tie Defender but designed to be a better fighter in the small forward and aft target.
Special Equipment: Because of the wing design, the pilot has a blind spot at the rear of the craft. In order to compensate this, a small space usable camera is mounted at the rear of the craft. The feed from the camera goes into an eyepiece that the pilot wears over his left eye. This way he can effectively watch his blind spot. However, seeing as the view from a camera is conic, there are still two blind spots on either side of the craft. They are just a lot smaller.
The Cardigan fighter is designed to be a space superiority fighter whose main goal is to destroy enemy fighter craft. While it does not hold and missile launchers or proton torpedo tubes, the vessel is fast and well suited to close quarters combat instead of attacking capital ships like the Rapyir Starfighter.
Design Time: 20 days
Start: 11-18
End: 12-7

Thanks.

I don't think so. .5m smaller, but without the ions.
APPROVED.

Does it need to go more?
#57 7:25am 01/12/03
I upped it to 9.5.

If its designed to be small, you'll have to chop weapons then. The general consensus is bigger, matching the other craft it is like.
And if you want to make comparissons with Hapes craft, the 19m Avenger Fighter Bomber has the same number of emplacements, half the speed and maneuvreability with about the same sheild and hull.

I upped it some but not a lot. It's designed to be small.

And I agree with Ren....

Kamon, it was decided quite awhile ago that components won't be shrinking by drastic measures on TRF unless someone does an R&D for it -- and even then it probably won't get approved.
Beff even posted an article why.

Same arguement stands.
#50 7:29am 27/11/03
I'm not arguing the weapon size. I assume they haven't changed as they are the same weapon as used on the E-wing. I'm arguing about the size of the components like the engines and such.
#49 7:22am 27/11/03
To lazy.
But that's not the point, Kamon. As far as TRF and Fleeting is concerned, a turbolaser is still the same size as it was fifty years ago.
You're welcome to create new tech, but not to simply claim "this was then, this is now, it can be done".

lol.
Can someone drag out those technical commentaries please?

It is a weapon according to the officials of Star Wars. It IS a weapon no matter what you say. It IS safe to assume technology has progressed since the design of the Defender. In fact I KNOW it has.
