Explanations

Phalanx Anti-Missile Point Defence Gatling Laser Network

The Phalanx, is made up of a network of small, turreted light blaster cannons. These weapons are very able to pick out missiles and destroy them from long range. The Phalanx System reduces the percentage of successful short-range missile strikes to less than 20%, and long-range attacks to under 5%.

Reactive Shielding

Reactive shielding is a system designed to protect the Messiah from energy weapons. When the vessel’s shields are raised, a special battery bank is charged along with them. Then, when computers detect a substantial bombardment against any section of the vessel, the shield is immediately recharged with stored energy from this bank.

Multi Track Shielding

Multi Track Shielding uses a dedicated targeting computer imbedded in the shielding system to track approaching enemies and calculate approximate damage. The system automatically them distributes shields for maximum damage resistance. Combined with reactive shielding, this system gives the ship an unprecedented edge in battle.

Proton Torpedo Clusters

A dedicated cluster of Proton Torpedo Launchers, each equipped with its own complete targetting array. Each of the clusters contains fifteen launchers, linked into three banks. When the cluster is fired, there is a second-long delay between each bank. The result is that the first wave of missiles can often create a small gap in the shields, allowing the second and third waves to penetrate and strike hull. The arrangement allows for maximum damage to be sustained from a single cluster firing.

Background Information

Captured from the terrorist forces at the Battle of Corellia, the Viscount Class Star Defender was originally designed as a partnership between Mon Calamari and Corellia.

The captured vessels were built at Mon Calamari, and did not meet the expectations of Imperial engineers - especcially those who had worked previously on the Corellian-built varients.

Imperial designers immediatly went to work on modifying and advancing the captured ships, turning them into compitent weapons for the defence of the Empire.

The end result was the Corellia Class Star Defender, so named for their actions (or lack thereof) during the terrorist attack. Sacraficing much of its cargo space and troop capacity in order to carry more weapons and heavier defences, the new ship has been dubbed a "capital ship killer" by the Admiralty.

Where the terrorist vessel carried nearly 12 000 soldiers for ground-based attacks, the new varient carries only a handful. The facilities neccessary for handling the massive number of additional men were stipped, giving room for more power generation facilities to feed the heavier weapons mounted on the ship.

Similarly, four sqaudrons of starfighters have been removed in order to increase engine capacity, allowing the ship to move only slightly slower than it originally did despite heavier armour plating on all surfaces.

Outwardly, the vessels are no different from other Star Defenders. On the inside, however, they are Imperial war machines, more than capable of each engaging a Mon Calamari varient and emerging the victor.

(OOC Information: This is a modification, to be applied to all captured Viscount Star Defenders. I would therefor suggest either no R&D time, in the manner of the Shroud's "modification", or a 20-day R&D time, since we cannot "build" these ships from scratch.)

Don't make me get my poking stick.

Anyway, moving on...?

#16 9:27pm 24/12/03

fine, 25 days is as far as Ill go

And all of that would be done were it being 'repaired' as well, but with no OOC repair time.

#14 9:19pm 24/12/03

your removing alot of weapons, replacing them with others, installing new techs to replace its old ones. Its quite a large operation on a large vessel.

30 days is what Im saying

Not entirely. If I was simply reparing these ships and using them as Viscount Star Defenders, there would be no OOC repair time.

So twenty days is ideal.

Its still a very large overhual regardless

Personally, i'd incorporate the upgrade time into the repair times that are going to have to take place to get this ships servicable. The theory runs along the lines of the fact that instead of replacing then upgrading a turbolaser/anything, the repairing engineers would simply upgrade the system to the requirements above, rather than those in the Viscount.

It makes sense, and is perfect for this eventuality.

30 and youll give me a dozen roses

Twenty, and I'll give you a bag of chocolate.

#8 10:05am 24/12/03

Imma have to say a 30 day work over for all the changes your making to the ships...

No, Jan.

But in my next post, I'll just post some of your ships self-destructing. All right?

His post wasn't overruled, the fact that he killed your ships was overruled.
