Explanations

Phalanx Anti-Missile Point Defence Gatling Laser Network

The Phalanx, is made up of a network of small, turreted light blaster cannons. These weapons are very able to pick out missiles and destroy them from long range. The Phalanx System reduces the percentage of successful short-range missile strikes to less than 20%, and long-range attacks to under 5%.

Reactive Shielding

Reactive shielding is a system designed to protect the Penetrator from energy weapons. When the vessel’s shields are raised, a special battery bank is charged along with them. Then, when computers detect a substantial bombardment against any section of the vessel, the shield is immediately recharged with stored energy from this bank.

Multi Track Shielding

Multi Track Shielding uses a dedicated targeting computer imbedded in the shielding system to track approaching enemies and calculate approximate damage. The system automatically them distributes shields for maximum damage resistance. Combined with reactive shielding, this system gives the ship an unprecedented edge in battle.

Background Information

The Penetrator Class have proven effective in both large and small scale planetary invasions. These vessels are usually operated by the ISB but several have found their way into Naval service. The Penetrator's are not meant for long duration patrols and describing the troop and crews quarters as cramped would be an understatement. Every cubic millimeter of space on these vessels is utilized to carry troops, or weapons, or machinery.

This is not a general R&D. It is a non-canon ship created for a website.

Therefor, for it to be a playable ship at TRF, it must be R&Ded by the group producing it.

Kas, you were the one that brought this up last time someone (me) was using ships from galacticempire.org. You're comments are certainly welcome.

This is not a general R&D, and as a TNO R&D is it being withdrawn.

Fixed the title, and restored the original stats.

Submit this as a General R&D, and please list the original stats.

The only stats available for this ship come from www.galacticempire.org. The ship was created by them.

Under TRF policy, galacticempire.org is not an accepted site. In fact, is was largely ships from that site that led to the "General R&D" rules.

Therefor, if you're using ships built by those stats Griff, they are not canon and must be submitted as a general R&D. However, even assuming you did so, you would need a damn good explanation as to how you came across the ship.

Just ask yourself if there's really a need for this craft. We're capping the soft cap at 30 right now. If you really want to use a slot for this, go ahead, but don't waste the R&D mods time with something that would probably be replaced or redone as soon as you hit the cap.

What about I submit the original as a General, then this one as a modified version?

Then please do so. And remove the added systems (I.E:Phalanx Network, Reactive Shielding, Multi-track Shielding)

#15 3:09am 24/01/04

If this becomes an General R&D then I will post the original armament instead of the modified armament.

I told you, we currently have four of them in our manifest. And we did have stats for them - otherwise we couldn't have built them. But i can't find the stats now.

Methinks an ISB specific vehicle is one of those things where the 'empire specific' card can be played safely.

#12 6:11am 23/01/04

If you are so sure, #1: What book, comic, or video game is it in?

#2: Just how many ships have you built without a definite list of stats for?

No. This is a canon ship. How do I know? Because ORS built 4 of them, and we still have them. This should be general.

bump

#9 4:11pm 21/01/04

Ummmm, no, not that I know of. I am not the person who originally submitted the design (Yoo-hoo, John Orion out there?) but I am submitting it for review here at the board. So the three special techs would stay. Oh, Kas, don't forget about seventuplets, or whatever, and then Octects.

Is this a General R&D? Because if so, the Phalanx needs to be taken out, along with the Reactive shielding...
