Explanations:

Phalanx Anti-Missile Point Defence Gatling Laser Network

The Phalanx, is made up of a network of small, turreted light blaster cannons. These weapons are very able to pick out missiles and destroy them from long range. The Phalanx System reduces the percentage of successful short-range missile strikes to less than 20%, and long-range attacks to under 5%. (60 cannons on this ship)

Reactive Shielding

Reactive shielding is a system designed to protect the Messiah from energy weapons. When the vessel’s shields are raised, a special battery bank is charged along with them. Then, when computers detect a substantial bombardment against any section of the vessel, the shield is immediately recharged with stored energy from this bank.

Multi Track Shielding

Multi Track Shielding uses a dedicated targeting computer imbedded in the shielding system to track approaching enemies and calculate approximate damage. The system automatically them distributes shields for maximum damage resistance. Combined with reactive shielding, this system gives the Messiah an unprecedented edge in battle.

Background information:

The need for an improved Victory class Star Destroyer came about after the Victory Star Destroyer Mark II proved to be a dismal failure for the Empire, which had tried to design a more space combat worthy version of the ship. The Mark II had the systems needed, and adjustements made, but it still carried a woefully inadequate number of starfighters to act as a screen for a ship it's size, and even worse, it's armament didn't contain any heavy, or hard hitting weapons. The improvements in the Mark III are immediatly more clear. The height of the Bridge Tower has been sliced in half, the bridge almost melting into the superstructre itself, making it much less of a tempting and inviting target. Heavy weapons have replaced the old, medium powered ones, and while there aren't as many, it brings back the formidable missile armament of the first VSD model, creating a deadly foe. On the inside of the ship, however, things are most definintly different. Much of the troops, thier quarters, and all of the ground vehicles have been gouged out of the ship, and extra facilities, as well as racks, and pilot's quarters are their replacements, allowing for an extra two squadrons of starfighters to be carried on the ship, as well as numerous shuttle sized vessels. The engines have also been modified for a slight increase in overall sublight speed, and a bigger one in hyperdrive. The VSD now has three engines instead of two large ones, smaller, but just as powerful. New powerful sensors, and communications devices round out the ship.

Well, he did say the ship was underarmed. Compare this ship to the Shoto in terms of length, and number of launchers. 900 is approximatley 3/4ths the length of the Shoto, and carries 30 compared to 40 Octects, or 3/4ths the number.

I guess. I'm just saying this ship isn't a big improvement on the older models of VSDs.

Approved.

This ship has less weapons than the Victory mk. I and the Victory mk. II.
