THC R&D #13: Hapan Star Destroyer
<span style="font-family:verdana; color:teal;font-size:x-large;">The Hapan Star Destroyer</span>
<table border=0>
<tr><td>
After the success with the Sword of Hapes Battleship, Hapan ships designers were given a new specific project. The Hapes, allowed onto a captured Imperial Star Destroyer, Immediatly began to pick at the ships design. Ecstatic, they had tried to get Star Destroyers to pull apart for years. They had plans, sure, but there was nothing like taking a real one apart. They soon learned it wasn't as great as they thought.
Both the Imperial Star Destroyer Mark I and Mark II were engineering nightmares. Their study of the craft went on into the time of the Galactic Coalition and its war with The New Order. Finally they began work on an Improved Star Destroyer, the Hapan Star Destroyer.
The Hapes-class was built around the frame of an ISD Mark II with features stolen from the old Victory-class. They took the
heavy turbolaser batteries out, despite their punch they drained so much energy they weren't deemed worth the expense. The 20 Ion Cannons were replaced with the Mark I's compliment of 60, and 6 concussion missile tubes were added to make up for the punch lost from the heavy batteries. There was still energy left over from the removal of the heavies though, and this was put to use in a set of backup shields which increased the ship's survivabliity even further.
Extra fighter capacity was also included in the Hapes-class so that it could field a wing and a half of the newest and most advanced fighters. There was a loss in space on board, for both cargo and troops but it was relatively small compared to the gains.
One addition had been added to the frontal portion of the design, an incorporation of a specialized Hapan hand weapon on a capital ship scale. Nuzzled in the forward end, embeded with its own energy source for less drain on ships abilities, is what is described as the Cannon of Command.
</td><td>
The Cannon of Command is a specialized capital ship weapon which paralyzes its target's crews' higher brain functions and renders the victims completely susceptible to direction from others. It releases a visibly harmless spray of blue sparks, but after the weapon has been discharged at an enemy, the enemy's brain functions are altered in such a manner that he will stand motionless until he is given an order. Soldiers who have been immobilized in this manner generally follow any orders that they are given, so they can be instructed to turn on their own comrades. The tactical effectiveness of this weapon cannot be overstated. It has the ability to rapidly nullify a numerical disadvantage, and there is no way to quantify the psychological effect of seeing your own comrades firing back at you. This weapon is as of yet unable to penetrate ray shielding and as such is only effective against unsheilded ships and planetary targets.
* The Hapes Star Destroyer has a set of backup shields. When shields are lost, the shield operators can make an attempt to use one of the backup shield arrays to bring the shields back to a full 4032 SBD.

I'm sure Gue has the go-ahead from lup, otherwise he wouldn't post.
I'd repost them instead if you prefer?

"They took the heavy turbolaser batteries out, despite their punch they drained so much energy they weren't deemed worth the expense."
From what I've seen of Hapes stuff the seem to prefer a heavy punch up front..
"Cannon of Command"
I don't have a problem with this being used on a personnel level by commanders, but unless this is a canon implementation of the tech I'm going to stomp on it.

Why are you posting this? And not a member of Hapes?
