"Liberator Cruiser
designed and built by SoroSuub, this small capital ship was often underestimated by its enemies. The sleek, V-shaped design was compact, yet was heavily armed with ion cannons and hevay turbolaser batteries. The interior of the Liberator was large enough to transport three full regiments of troops and six starfighter squadrons, making the Liberator one of the most advanced warships produced during the height of the New Order."

Uhm....but it doesn't say that anywhere that I can see....if anything that would be a fan-made assumption at best....

You're the one who bothered to open Rebellion to quote it. The game designers created the Liberator to be the direct Rebel counter to the Empire's ISD.

That's why they carry the same fighter and troop numbers, and similar weapons loadouts.

Where does it say it can take on an ISD by the way? Just cos I wanna check....

Drayson is free to voice her opinion but she is just continuely restating the same thing. Thus impeding the thread.

Yes, a star destroyer would win in a 1 to 1, head to head fight. It would not even be a close fight.

For reference's sake the liberator has about as good of odds of winning against a star destroyer as a Strike class cruiser does.

Since this is a general R&D, Drayson can voice his mind, I think.

For clarification: 1 on 1 this ship is still losing to an ISD?

Strike cruisers can take on ISD's at 450 meters but only in groups. This ship is only slightly better in terms of arms and tactically works in much the same way that you would use strike class cruisers.

Unless we want to change the Strike cruiser so it is less powerful this ship is good to go.

Now lets stop with the rhetoric please and let staff post already.

So 400-meter ships can take on ISDs?

I'll keep that in mind.

The ship is listed in canon as small and diminutive. I stand by the length that I supported with many sources to prove that it is the most commonly accepted length.

I am tired of going in circles here.

R&D staff I would appriciate an approval considering I have made the only needed adjustment.

It came from the actual game....I have it installed so I went in it and looked at the in game encyclopedia....

I could give you the entire thing that it says, including the weapons rating and all that other crap it has, if you want?

If you're on crack, maybe...

An Imperial Escort frigate, which is a dedicated carrier not suited for direct combat is able to carry 6 sqaudrons of TIE fighters and no ground troops. These ships are, if I remember correctly, 500 meters long.

An Aegis Carrier can carry 6 sqaudrons of TIE fighters, no troops and a formidible weapons cache, but sacrafices defensive power to do so.

An Imperator Class Star Destroyer carries 6 sqaudrons of TIE fighters, and troops, and is still considered a "cruiser".

Remember, the Liberator this is all based on is designated a Cruiser in the game that it was created for, not a Carrier.

A dedicated carrier of 400 meters could not hope to carry starfighters, troops (which also implies landing craft), and still host any sort of weapons capability.

However, an Imperial Star Destroyer or similarly sized warship can do these things.

Compared to other ships that were common at the time of the Rebellion (as set in the game) it is fairily small - the Dauntless, Bulwark, and Super Star Destroyer all outclass it in meterage.

And I would be interested to know from where that description comes from, since neither the game manual nor the Web Site contains any of those words, and those are the only sources I would consider legitimate.

In short, the description of the Liberator as "small but carrying 72 starfighters, thousands of troops and lots of guns" is sheer contradiction - a ship can do all three only if it is large enough to do so, and 400 meters is not large enough.

And let us not forget the ship's service in the game - as a counter to the ISD.

Or can 400-meter ships stand against Star Destroyers now?

Though I'm not sure it matters now...here is the exact words the game uses to describe the Liberator...

The SoroSuub Liberator's slender hull disguises the fact that it can carry three troop regiments and six fighter squadrons. For a capital ship, the Liberator is diminutive in size, but still hosts a formidable weapons complement consisting of ion cannons and heavy turbolaser batteries. Utilizing state-of-the-art hull armour, new shielding and drive technology, the Liberator is one of the most advanced warships in the galaxy.

From that description it would seem that it can't be 1,800m....

I'm sorry Vonta, that was an outburst, it wasn't anything you did it's just that whenever I say something, everyone says "Kas, can I get your opinion too?".

I dunno.

In any case, I'm not going to reject or accept this mod, I was suggesting that going with the larger size would lead to it being approved, which is what you want, I assume.

Ahnk I was not aware that you were giving approvals as a mod. I have only seen you make suggestions as a staff member not as an acting mod.

-Unofficial star wars encyclopedia.

I would note the highlighted. The ship is noted at this offical source as being small. No ship over 1000 ms would be considered small.

This official source also notes in the highlighted that the V shape made it compact and fully able to carry the amount amount of onboard craft that it has.

Well do ceros.
