Explanations:
Multi-XMAP:
Advanced Phalanx Network: This version of the Phalanx Network has been upgraded to include a mix of various types of cannons. There are three types of cannons used in this network. The first is a small number of advanced flechette launchers. These launchers launch tubes filled with the shrapnel, and ionic fields that detonate 10 kilometers out from the ship, filling the missile's paths with stuff that could confuse the warheads, and cause them to detonate, taking out other nearby missiles. The next line is a series of 3-barrel laser gattling cannons. These cannons fire at a rate of a anti-starfighter quad laser cannon, and have an effective range of 5 kilometers. Lastly, but not least, is the 6-barrel laser gattlings normally used in the original phalanx network. These fire three times as fast as a quad laser cannon, and usually take out the most warheads. Linking these systems together is an advanced targeting computer that analyzes the warheads path as they approach closer to the ship, increasing the normal accuracy of these cannons by a substantial sum. Short Range (under 10 kilometers) missile strike reduced to 75%, Long Range down to 20%.
Rerouter Stations (7):
These stations come equipped with lots of specially made power lines with a very wide bandwith, allowing an unusual amount of power to be fed through them at one time. These stations basically act to transfer power from one type of system to another, within seconds, without the risk of overloading the computers, and lines, and slagging them, resulting in a meltdown, and powerfailure. 70% power can be transferred from one system to another per a post with these stations on the Superior.
Proton Torpedo Octect:
These special launchers are actually eight proton torpedo tubes crammed into one launcher. In order to prevent thrust damage from simultaneous launches, the launcher has to project it's self away from the ship, and at must redock with the ship in order to reload. If the launcher is destroyed while fully loaded, the ship suffers about 10-15 meters worth of destroyed hull from the chain reaction explosion.
Firing Arcs:
Turbolasers:
76 topside, 24 bottomside.
Ion Cannons:
36 topside, 14 bottomside.
Proton Torpedo Launchers:
150 topside, 50 bottomside.
Weapon Layout: Topside:
Guns arrainged into four clusters, two front (one port, one starboard), and two aft (one port, one starboard). In each cluster: 19 Turbolasers, 9 Ion Cannons.
Torpedo Launchers: Four groups of 35 each, two port, two starboard, in centre of ship. 5 more tubes port, starboard each towards the bow.
Bottomside:
Guns: at random intervals sufficent to defend ship from any angle.
Torpedo Launchers:
25 port, 25 starboard, spaced evenly along length of ship.
Arcs:
Bow:
50 Turbolasers, 25 Ions, 200 proton launchers.

Hmmmm. I think what Drayson really intended the cold plasma armour to be was something jelly like that would stop the projecticles without detonating them, like soft gook.
#23 4:10pm 07/06/04
Is that on the record, Mr. Darksword?
*takes notes*
#22 4:06pm 07/06/04
No, we make sure to kill the entire family so we don't need to bother with compo.
#21 3:52pm 07/06/04
I don't think the Empire has worker's compensation.
#20 2:53am 07/06/04
I think I see the points your making. The Octects are held in place more by retractable structs than anything else. If held in place by cables, they could be prevented from slamming violently into the ship through the use of magnetic forces that could be deactivated when the octect redocks with the ship.
Yes, the armour would melt, and more cold plasma would be squirted out to replace it.
#19 1:54am 07/06/04
Your cold plasma system isn't really feasible. If a torpedo hit it,the explosion would melt it away in seconds. It would be useless.
Your octet system isn't terribly feasible either. This things float around in space, strung to the ship by cables... automated, I'm assuming... all the while cold plasma is passed over it's wires which I assume are insulated... and then it begins firing rockets, but for some reason, doesn't slam off the hull with reckless force, denting it, and then snapping it's wires as it flies off into space, randomly shooting rockets in any odd direction.
And where the hell are the rockets kept?
This whole thing sounds like a workers compensation disaster. It needs to be either clearer, or less impossible.
#18 1:24am 07/06/04
This being the case, how is cold plasma armor penetrated?
#17 7:51pm 06/06/04
Cold Plasma armour is an additional defensive layer against Missiles, Rail guns, and any other "projectiles".
And let me add an explanation for octects so people like Ahnk can understand what it means.
#16 6:23pm 06/06/04
Speed is better.
Explain the cold plasma system or take it off.
And remove 'octets' to keep Ahnk happy.
#15 6:24am 06/06/04
And your cold plasma system doesn't really make sense. I'd take it off too.
And I still don't like the word octets.
But it's better.
#14 6:02am 06/06/04
Ok, I took down the speed some more, and removed the Matrix Anti-Interdiction Pulse Generators.
#13 5:05am 06/06/04
It's still too fast, it's still too uber.
And I don't like the word octets.
And Dolash, being able to defeat a ship doesn't mean it's fair. I don't see a weakness on this ship; it's fast, it's big, it has a lot of guns and excellent shielding with some uber techs and a strong hull. It's everything that an R&D should be, except fair and balanced.
#12 3:45am 06/06/04
I know i'm not meant to rate this ship, but strip the speed massively.
Nothing uber, irregardless of its name, should ever be approved.
#11 2:45am 06/06/04
Oh come on, Ahnk, that's why they call it "Superior".
I bet if someone were to think hard enough they could come up with a dozen ways to take one down, and at that size there'll be very few to defeat.
#10 12:30am 06/06/04
Uh, @#%$ no. This thing is able to defeat interdiction fields and laugh off most weaponry with reactive shielding, and is faster then considerably smaller conventional warships.
No way in hell, Kraken.
