Description: The Efreeti-class Battlecruiser is an advanced design incorporating an amalgam of old and new technologies in order to provide Inferno Fleet with a larger warship capable of countering large enemy cruisers like Star Destroyers. The basic design itself can be traced back to the lineage of Rothana Drive Yards vessels like the Acclamator, albeit modified to run like a CIS warship during the Clone Wars. But after that, most of the Efreeti’s design is rather unique. Rather than carrying traditional multipurpose turbolasers as its main armament, the battlecruiser employs unorthodox, specialized plasma mass driver cannons. Rather than carrying traditional missile launchers, the Efreeti employs a mix of plas-blast missiles, like those used by the Cerberus-class, and general purpose launchers. In addition, the Efreeti uses lateral thrusters like those on the Nebula-class Star Destroyer and advanced Givin etheric rudders, making the ship exceptionally maneuverable. But all this comes at a cost, which is a lower ground complement compared to many comparable designs like the Imperator series. Thus, the Efreeti suffers in the ground assault department in order to become a more apt space superiority vessel.

Technical Descriptions:

Relative Cost: Slightly Below Average

Cost: The ship has a below price tag for its size. A lot of this is because of the nature of Hell’s Anchorage’s operating procedures, which use automated systems and droids for the bulk of the construction from harvesting the ore to making the final product. But this is all partially because the ship’s own automation, which cuts down on costs for recreational facilities, autochefs, sanitation, life support systems, and so forth. However, the use of some high and unusual technologies drives the cost up to almost being average of that many galactic powers.

Speed: Above Average

Engines: Engines and maneuvering systems onboard the Efreeti-class are mostly not remotely new technology, but the sheer number of them provide the battlecruiser with exceptional speed and maneuverability for a ship of its size. The lateral thruster design of the Nebula-class Star Destroyer has been augmented by Sladru’s unique etheric rudder designs, which allow the vessel to make almost acrobatic maneuvers in the middle of an engagement uncommon for a ship its size.

Shield Rating: Slightly Below Average

Shields: The ship has slightly below average shielding for its size, being even less that of the smaller Nebula-class Star Destroyer or MC90s, yet nonetheless, it shields are superior to that of the traditional marks of the Imperator-series, which are perhaps its closest counterparts. The Efreeti sports multiple back-up generators as based on previous Alliance experience through their Mon Calamari vessels. The slight energy drain which makes the shields weaker is due to the Repulsor-Particle anti-projectile shield, which in turn more than offsets the shield’s weakness to physical weapons at the cost of resistance to energy weapons.

Armor: Average

Armor: The Efreeti has commonplace armor for its size. In fact, it’s only noticeable difference is that it is tinged crimson via tydirium solutions and paint.

Weapons: Above Average

Weapons: The Efreeti has more weapons for a ship its size than most, and this is a result of carrying less troops (nearly four thousand less than the first ISDs, despite the Efreeti being a larger vessel) and using more automation. That being said, the Efreeti’s weapons are varied and rather exotic, making it simultaneously a rather dangerous opponent and liability in combat. Both of these are derived from the ship’s preoccupation with kinetic weapons, which are capable of dealing ponderous amounts of damage, albeit limited by ammunition.

The main batteries of the vessel are larger variants of the Phlegeton’s LQPMDs, albeit on a larger scale and not in quad mountings. Each barrel is actually a basic magnetic accelerator which accelerates a partially gas-filled slug into action. When the normally inert gas passes through the accelerator, it becomes ionized and is turned into plasma. Upon turning into plasma, it breaks through the rear of the bullet to form a rudimentary plasma drive; thus accelerating the slug faster. Thus, the slug actually becomes faster the longer its flight is, and thus if it encounters a distant ship, will likely punch completely through its shields and hull. Conversely, if the shell hits a target right upon leaving the barrel, it still has a lot of plasma within it, which will create explosive splash damage to the target. Thus more simply put, as range increases, penetration increases; as range decreases, explosive damage increases. Thus the Efreeti’s Plasma Mass Drivers are effective at all ranges, but like missile launchers, also suffer from relying on relying on physical ammunition. The rounds themselves are relatively small, and all emplacements on the Efreeti have enough ammunition for at least one long engagement thanks to deep ammunition bunkers which were built at the cost of carried troops. Another tradeoff for the weapon's power is a lack of versatility: PMDs are incapable of making flak bursts or conducting orbital bombardments. Besides carrying a set of ion cannons, the Efreeti carries weaponry already developed and used by other Inferno vessels.

Complements: Below Average

Complements: While the Efreeti carries an average amount of starfighters and support for its class, it is larger than its counterparts, and yet despite this, it also carries a significantly smaller ground complement. This is for increased space for munitions and other special systems.

Special Technology:

Automation: The Efreeti makes extensive use of automation technology derived from CIS warshps manufactured by the Givins, like the Wavecrest-class, as well as that derived from the Adz-class Patrol Destroyer. This is mostly done to reduce crew requirements, since the actual manpower of the Inferno organization is low, as well as to provide more room for munitions within the ship.

CGTA (Crystal Gravitational Trap Array): Inferno Fleet acquired a Crystal Gravitational Trap when it captured the Imperial Patrol Frigate Royala Solis from Warlord Fossk (the CGT is standard equipment on the Imperial Patrol Frigate according to Cracken’s Threat dossier). Inferno Fleet has managed to duplicated the system on a very limited production scale, and is thus reserved for the Efreeti Battlecruisers alone, along with the rest of the specialized sensors found on the said frigate.

“The CGT array is a an exceptionally sensitive gravimetric detector, able to detect even cloaked asteroids which gives off no emissions by their gravitational mass shadow only. They work using a synthetic crystal grid to detect fluctuations in the gravimetric plane. The somewhat unwieldy military abbreviation of its name has given it several nicknames, including "CGT" and "See yee take all if see us" shortened to "see yee". An additional function of the CGT is that it can be set up to reflect sensor scans, and thus also work as a stealth system.” ~Ace Roscoe’s summary of the CGT, as found here.

Repulsor-Particle Anti-Projectile Shield: The RPAPS uses a combination of low power repulsorlifts and tensor field generators to suspend and collect particles (such as free ions, space dust, etc) from outer space. These particles are then held in place and strengthened with a very low level particle shield. The result is an extremely thin and weak shielding system against physical weapons projected several meters from the ship’s hull. When a weapon, such as a missile or slug hits the shield, the shield shatters and breaks, but in the process, deforms and partially deflects slugs or prematurely detonates warheads. The resulting system significantly lessens damage from physical weapons and is easily restored and recharged after even a second of us. Thus, the RPAPS acts like regenerative spaced armor.

Systematic Damage Control System: The SDCs uses a combination of repair droids, containment field emitters, and built-in redundant systems to allow Efreeti to continue operating even when heavily damaged, and eventually repair itself without the aid of a repair yard.
