Description:

The Shadow Class Corvette, commonly referred to the as the 'Shadow' is designed for long range scanning, artillery spotting, espianoge, and infiltration. It's engines are designed around the concept that it cannot be detected by it's emissions. Like-wise, it's prototype clocking device insures it can't be picked up on sensors, wheather visual or mechanical.

The Shadow is equiped with a variety of sensor packages that it use's to scan space; these packages allow it to pick up everything from the smallest rock to mighty ships and station, as well as, all known cloaking technologies (including their own)

When the Shadow is not cloaked it's capable of using both the ATLAS and SAS, but while cloaked it can only use one or the other.

The ATLAS, or Advanced Targeting Laseration Assault System, allows the ship to beam targetting coordinates to the Korleon Class Lone Ranger Mk 2 OR to any MAC equiped ship. The computer triangulates every known movement that the targeted ship makes. This allows the receiving attack ships to make an accurate guess on where it is headed and where to fire a shell, much like the TDC used by earth based submarines.

The SAS, or Shadow Assault System, is a system that allows the Shadow to escape harm. When this system is engaged the Shadow literally become's intangible, allowing it to pass through solid objects. However, this comes at a terrible risk. EMP weapons are highly effective against the Shadow when in this state and if used, it can potentially decloak the Shadow while its passing through a solid object thus destroying it. Another problem with EMP based weapons is the potential to actually overload the SAS generator if the middle section of the ship is hit, which would destroy the Shadow in an instant.

Another side effect to the SAS is it's power requirements. A lot of power is needed for this system to be used, it can only stay active for five minutes. Last, but not least, the ship cannot enter the atmosphere of a planet while the SAS is in motion, if it does the ship will be torn apart due to the conflicting nature of the phase cloak.

It's lack of weapons means the Shadow can't last long in an engagement and must flee the scene before enemy reinforcements arrive to pick it apart. It is for this reason that the shadow's mandate is to stay cloaked at all times and only utilize the SAS when in extreme danger.

However, much like all Serendivus vessels, the Shadow is partially immune to laser based weaponry due to it's reflective armor plating. However, as is the case, as the armor is chipped away by constant impacts it won't take long before a hull breach occurs.

Basically, what the ship lacks in weaponry and shields, it make's up for in speed, sensors and specialized systems.

(Special Note: The Serendivus Prototype Cloaking Mirage has been replaced with it's completed component: The Lighter Cloaking drive)
