Description -
The Yamato class Battle Command Destroyer is designed to not only command fleets, but also to lead them into battle, fully capable of defeating enemy fleets herself without any trouble. The vessel is massive, massing more than an Executor class Super Star Destroyer.
At first glance the destroyer may have fewer weapons than contemporary vessels her size, but what she lacks in numbers, she makes up for quality. The tried and true X-10 Turbolaser Batteries, first used on the Regent class destroyers, are used on this vessel, a modification of the old Turbolaser battery, in which the barrels are able to fire at twice their normal rate, although the power of each shot is slightly reduced, and after one hundred shots, the barrel must cool down for several minutes without firing again. Also used on the Regent, the X-20 Turbolaser Cannon is a pulse cannon that fires a contious powerful turbolaser beam for several seconds, delivering an incredible amount of punch, but requiring a long cool down period in between shots, to not only cool down the barrel, but also recharge as well.
The Super Turbolasers, first used on the Imperial Star Destroyer Mark V, make an appearance here as well, in an uprated version. The STL-18s are each ten times as powerful as a heavy turbolaser battery, but also take longer in between firings than a normal STL cannon would. There a nine of these barrels, mounted three to a turret. Rounding out the armament is an array of ion batteries and proton torpedo tubes.
Although the Yamato is well armed in offensive armament, she is sorely lacking in defensive armament. Rather, she relies on not only her impressive shielding arrays, shields that power the ship are 75% particle based, 20% ray based, and 5% ion based, protecting the ship from nearly any kind of offensive weapons out there in wide use. In addition, ten squadrons of starfighters are embarked, and these fighters are meant only to act as a screen for the destroyer. The starfighter capacity can be doubled if most of the shuttles and all the ground vehicles are dis-embarked.
Speaking of Hangar and Troop Capacity, the hangars are massive enough to allow two Star Destroyers or other vessels up to two thousand meters in length to be docked in the bays. Other embarked vehicles include a wide array of shuttles, gunboats, and ground vehicles. Up to one hundred thousand infantry or passengers can be embarked on the destroyer.
For propulsion, the ship has six embankments of engines, four of those embankments have four drive engines, the two main ones have eight engines. Each engine only runs at 50% of it's maximum capacity. The reason for this is that for quick manuevers, power can be decreased on one side and increased on another side. In addition for this reason, another reason is that if a drive nacelle is disabled or destroyed, the other drive engines can pick up the slack. The hyperdrive rating is also excellent for a vessel of this size.
For command facilites, the Yamato is well equipped. There are two main facilites, one located in the bridge, and the other in the heart of the vessel. The bridge contains the medium range communications and the main sensor facilites, while the heart of the vessel contains the long range and holocommunications gear and the war room for the fleet commanders, updated every minute with the latest images and text messages from the heart of battlefields around the galaxy.
Currently there is only one Yamato class vessel in comission, the BCD Flarestar.

wtf?

Please ignore this R&D. TNO has withdrawn its desire to frivilously expend its citizens tax dollars on another pointless craft.

Hmm, wha? Oh.
Screw all y'all.

Actually, that was Beff's...interesting design from April. The Pink Star Liner or something of the sort?

I'm getting a dead link, Wes.
If that was a reference to the Confederation, then yes, we do use our own designs, and I was very big on that during my earlier time here. But that's changed. Right now, the Confed Navy is currently fielding more Nebula SDs than anything else, and those are a canon design, along with a smattering of classic ISDs.

Thank you for saying what i've been thinking for about the last 6 TNO R&Ds Wilkar.
Please have my babies.

Wilkar, TNO does not corner the market on such R&Ds. I refer you to this thread as proof: http://therebelfaction.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11651

Your right Wilkar. While I'm not an imperial, and thus according to this boards rules i'm technically not suppose to respond to RnD..
However, some of the technologies on this board ARE infact newly fictional. Sometimes, however, there are technologies that CAN NOT be newly fictionated. Like the cloaking technology my faction use's, while it's new in it's principle, it's still the same in it's execution.
Turbolaser batteries, laser cannons, rifles, blasters, light sabres, they are all fictional weapons that don't exist in our time. While yes we can use the same old ships and such, but where's the fun in that? After awhile people bore of using the same old same old.
Why do you think that over time even WE as humans develop NEW technologies to further improve our race?
And this IS a Star-Wars-Role-Playing-Forum. Meaning we create our own technologies to better help our factions, or sell said technology to other factions so they may utilize it.
While yes, some of the tech is nothing more than an upgrade of existing technology. However, let me point out a few key details that I've noticed in Park's RnD that I have not seen:
X-10 and X-20. I haven't a clue what they do, while he states they are turbolaser's, what type? Could they be gattling form? Could they be tri-barreled? Hell for all we know they are pie shooters!
What I'm saying is this: As RPers we want to expand our mind and see how care we can go in creating stuff, writing a story is nice, roleplaying another is awesome. However, when we can create a truly unique RnD? That signals that we can do stuff other than roleplay a character, it means our minds can go beyond that simple realm, and into another form of imagination.

But it's not new fictional technologies 90% of the time..... It's the same stuff with X amount of guns added plus Y amount of meters minus Z amount of shields

One could argue that the development of new fictional technologies only helps expand our ever growing dynamic little community of Star-Wars fan-fic'ers. Or that the valued contribution gives those contributors some sense of enjoyment which, I assume, this is all about.
And that Wilkar, like Zark, is just a grump too young for his nasty 'tude.

I know.... why do you TNO people (and other factions) have to get new shit every month. We're still rocking Imp deuces and A-wings in the Commonwealth and dat shit aint ever going out of style. I honestly have more respect for the RPer who rocks canon shit and and adapts his stories to it than I have respect for people who have a new fucking piece of shit R&D that no one even bothers to read (because they don't care) unless they're going up against it (which rarely happens because you cockbags don't use half the shit you R&D). So stop R&Ding pointless shit
fucking bitches

I cannot comment on the naming of said ship - believe it or not, I am not up as I should beon my Imperial Japanese Navy history post say 1920.
That said, I cannot support this command ship. We do not each have our own command ships per se - at least not mammoth ones. Desaria alternates between an SSD and a Conqueror, Bhindi has her SSD, and the Emperor has the Ebonvy Vigilance, the uber ESD that we all loathe. Why can you not pick from the repoitoire of what wwe already have and just super imrpove on it thus negating any debate and such.

You can just blame your slip on those stupid tv programmers that came up with the program - The battleship Yamamoto.

So you think your smrt now, huh?
And yeah, I realized that shortly after commenting - half hoped it would slip by unnoticed.
