The Solarisian Starfighter Carrier is modeled heavily after the Vessel of War, only with the intent of carrying out a different sort of role in combat. The Vessel of War itself boasts a sizable number of starfighters for a battlecruiser (one wing), as well as a higher than average compliment of weaponry. The Starfighter Carrier takes this idea and reverses it, possessing a sizable compliment of weaponry and a much higher than average number of starfighters.

Very few changes have otherwise been made to the two capital ships, the Starfighter Carrier a mere 500 meters smaller than its counterpart. The only real cosmetic differences is the noticeably larger hangar bays (the Starfighter Carrier possesses two, one starboard and one port, instead of the Vessel of War's one). Other than that, the Starfighter Carrier and the Vessel of War are more or less then same ship, only built slightly differently for different purposes.

*In some situations, the starfighter compliment for the Starfighter Carrier has been changed to allow for less squadrons of Darts and more squadrons of Excalibur-class Interceptor. The exact number is on a ship by ship basis, but it can be generally accepted that five squadrons of Excaliburs is equivalent to twelve squadrons of Darts.
