Solarisian Vessel of War-class Battlecruiser
The Solarisian Vessel of War is the standard Solarisian ship of the line, and the only capital class as of yet in their known arsenal. The Vessel of War uses standard galactic technology in a very unique way. The Vessel of War itself is one of the most interesting vessels to be developed in many years.
The ship itself is almost entirely automated, running on a permanent skeleton crew of only 80 robots, 30 humanoids and 50 specially designed repair robots, explained later. The ship itself is controlled by the computer mainframe, a self-conscious robot overmind built into the vessel.
The computer mainframe itself is located within the bowels of the ship, near the ship's core. It is protected by an anti-ion field specially designed to dull, but unfortunately not completely block, the effects of an ion blast. The software of the computer, however, its mind and consciousness, is connected to the entire vessel. It sees everything inside the vessel and to a reasonable degree outside the vessel.
If by chance the computer mainframe is struck by an ion blast, laser blast, or incurs some other type of damage, there are several ports throughout the ship where most of the computer's lower functions, mainly maintenance and combat-related, can be uploaded. So a hit to the computer mainframe itself does not necessarily mean the ship is out of the fight.
Things do break, and problems do occur, so every Vessel of War carries a compliment of 50 repair droids. The droids are sphere-shaped, and very small in order to fit into the very tight walkways and compartments of the Vessel of War. The VoW was designed to fit everything in as tightly as possible to allow for more weaponry, so the droids are the only things that can navigate most of the ship.
The Vessel of War is not without humanoid-friendly areas, however. Half a deck is devoted to quarters, and the bridge is the same as any normal capital class crafts. Humanoid-traversable walkways connect the bridge, the deck quarters, and the docking bay.
Because of the severe lack of crew, walkways, etc. the Vessel of War can support much more weaponry than a normal vessel of its size. It totes one hundred heavy turbolaser cannons, fifty turbolaser cannons, thirty ion cannons, and ten tractor beam projectors.
The Vessel of War also carries six squadrons of Dart-class Space Superiority Starfighters and has room for several shuttles of considerable size.
*In some newly developed situations, Vessels of War have been stripped of their Dart Starfighters and used both the space for the Darts and the extra space for shuttles to house four squadrons of Excalibur-class Interceptor Starfighters.
While the Vessel of War has many positives to its unique attributes, there are also quite a few negatives to this design. The entire vessel is automated, and as such is especially susceptible to ion blasts. And any droids who would be dispatched to repair parts of the ships are susceptible to being temporarily deactivated by the same ion blasts.
In some situations, the repairs may be too extensive for the compliment of droids to effectively handle. So if a Vessel of War is critically wounded in a combat situation, it would be harder for it to make on the fly situations that could put it to some use in the battle.
Also, while the computer mainframe runs most of the ship, there is not enough room in its hard drive to store extensive information on tactical warfare, so there must be a Captain droid or human present to actually give it orders in a combat situation.
The Vessel of War possesses shields befitting its size.
The Solarisian Vessel of War is a most unique capital ship, and the hand of the Solarisian navy.
The Vessel of War possesses hyperdrive capability.

Just used a portion of Prophecy I use the VoW in because I'm too lazy to write a separate post the accomplishes the same thing. If anyone has a problem they can cry more, cause ICly the VoWs have been around for as long as the Solarisians, and this R&D is more an establishment of their existing arsenal than it is a newly created ship.
