fuck that duck
I was going to post this in the TNO forum, but it bears repeating given the number of new members we have fleeting at the moment.

You cannot 'close' a planetary takeover thread. Any fleeting action, be it a takeover or an attack on another group, is open to interference from other groups.

Just something to keep in mind, everyone.

I believe there might be one exception to that rule (please correct me it I'm wrong), which is when you're starting a new group. Then it may be possible to do your first takeover in a closed fashion for the group's first planet. After that, what Demos said.

I dont think that exception applies anymore. It did originally that no group could be reduced to less than one planet but thats not the rule anymore I believe. One example of that would be BHG having their only planet taken over. Though most RPers won't challenge somebody on their first takeover at least for a new group. If its a group like TNO or GC thats slightly different.

lol Demo I understand that rule and the only reason I did it was because the defeat of the planet was already agreed upon by Marth and myself. The planet will fall to the TNO after a battle engagement while I will play out against myself.

Without such an agreement or understanding I would not have closed the thread.

Um other people can still intercede. And GC will dont worry. All I said was that there wasnt a GC fleet there and that you can defeat the Bothan fleet without any worries. Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

A group will usually not be taken off TRF unless 1). Activity is nil for quite a while and 2). their total contribution to TRF has been nil or 3). Group owner request to have faction removed.

New factions can start with 1 planet. They do not need a 5,000 word takeover. This was a former "rule" but has been removed in favor of "common sense" overriding policy. We usually do not begrudge a new group having a planet.

The exceptions would be character ownerships of worlds and/or if new group suddenly became a subgroup of a larger group. In that case, new group is not recognized OOC as a new faction but as a member-state of larger group and thus subject to 5000 word requirement.

Ah alright Marth, I misunderstood. Sorry about the confusion.
