My question is, will there be any performance issues if I'm running it off my laptop? Basically what I'm looking to do is have my monitor, keyboard, speakers, and mouse all on the desk, and the laptop really just acting as the processor off to the side. I'll probably need a little USB hub to hook up all my peripherals, but aside from that, is this feasable? And if so, will everything run smoothly?

I want to buy a monitor. More specifically, a 20" LCD widescreen. Probably this little lady.

No one have a clue?

Sith Knight
It's far from a professional opinion, but my friend did just that. As I recall, when his desktop died, he hooked his peripherals up to his laptop, kept it permenantly closed and used the monitor and an external keyboard. So it CAN be done. Can't say any more than that though.

Bounty Hunter
It totally can. I wouldn't rely on it though. It's sort of a temporary solution.
It depends on what you're doing, I suppose.

Well net surfing and I was going to attempt gaming. I'd have this set up until January-ish.

Internaut
It'll work fine, just make sure the monitor accepts the output your laptop has.

fuck that duck
On a related note, we just picked up a Viewsonic HDTV, and it's great. So I'd say good choice on the monitor.
