Commander Kermar was assigned to command the defences of Farquak.

Defend Farquak? I'm supposed to defend one of the major shipyards of the Galactic Coalition and I have almost nothing. 50 000 mines orbiting the planet, one Gencore Two Shield Generator and 4 Birds of Prey. If the enemy attacks in strong numbers, we are screwed. Oh well, hopefully they will be to busy defending Corellia.


"Sir, we have enemy ships in the system!"

"Activate all the planetary shields. Activate all mines. All Birds of Prey, activate shields and weapons. Stay hidden, let them come at us. Operaiton Alpha Omega, Scenario 4. Activate your cloaking shields. Jam all out of system communications."

With out of system communications jammed, the shields raised, 50 000 mines activated, and 4 Birds of Prey prepared the same number of enemies, Farquak looked well defended, but for how long? Luckily, Commander Kermar had a plan. The Birds of Prey were positioned on the far side of Farquak Junior and Gernon (two moons orbiting Farquak) in relation to the enemy ships. The enemy ships would come straight for the planet, and would engage the mines, which would be using their thrusters to bunch up on the side of the planet that the enemy was on. Meanwhile, the Birds of Prey would come around the moons, cloaked, and position themselves on the aft of the enemy Sith Battle Cruisers. They would then uncloak and fire on the enemy ships, forcing them into the mines. The enemy would have nowhere to go. This plan had been practiced numerous times, and the captains of the Birds of Prey were ready. Now all they had to do was wait for the enemy ships to advance a little farther into the system.

OOC:Just remeber, my Planetary Shields are active, and they protect my shipyards. My mines are outside of the shields. Oh, and you never actually RPed raising your shields, but since I'm such a nice guy, I will let that slide.

Commander Kermar smiled as the enemy fleet advanced. They were a fair bit closer to the planet then the Birds of Prey, but that did not matter. They had come into range of the first row of defence. 50 000 Defender Ion Mines, all of them active, all of them with thrusters, were locking onto the enemy ships. The majority of them started to fire. Not all of them had a target lock, and some of them were still coming into range of the enemy ships. That did not matter. What mattered was that the majority of the mines were capable of firing, and were all firing at the first Sith Battle Cruiser. Waves of blue ion bolts sprayed at the enemy Sith Battle Cruiser, and impacted against the shields. The shields were being drained quickly. If the enemy was smart, since he could not know that the Birds of Prey were out there, and were now around the moons coming on the enemy quickly, he might transfer all shield power to forward shields. That move would allow him to take down a significant amount of the mines, and would probably win him the battle, if it wasn't for the Birds of Prey. Commander Kermar was hoping that the enemy would do that, it would mean that the Birds of Prey could severally damage the enemy ships.

Commander Kermar cringed as the enemy's guns started to hit the shipyard. The shipyard was still stable for now, but that could change. However two other things warmed his eyes. The Birds of Prey had come into range of the Sith Battle Cruisers, and the mines had managed to take the shields of the first Sith Battle Cruiser down to 30%.

The Birds of Prey uncloaked, just within range of the enemy Sith Battle Cruisers. They continued to move forward, and also began to fire. The lead Bird of Prey attacked the Sith Battle Cruiser with the lowest shields. Waves of energy plowed into the aft shields of the Sith Battle Cruiser. The mines were still concentrating on that one, but they were being reduced in number. The other Birds of Prey moved in on the other enemy ships. They all followed the enemy's paths into the minefield, where some of the mines had been destroyed. All of the commanders knew that some of their shots would probably miss and hit a mine, but the majority of the shots would hit an enemy Sith Battle Cruiser. Each of the Birds of Prey began to load their missile launchers, preparing to hit the enemy.

Commander Kermar knew that the Shipyard must be protected.

"All Birds of Prey, move to Sector Five, and proceed with Operation Gamma Five."

The Birds of Prey continued on towards their enemy, and towards Sector Five.

Meanwhile, all the mines had moved into firing range of the Sith Battle Cruisers. They now were working in two different groups. All the mines towards the port of the Sith Battle Cruisers fired on the port most Sith Battle Cruiser, which had not been fired on by mines yet. The mines on the starboard of the of starboard most Sith Battle Cruiser fired on it. All the mines in between the Sith Battle Cruisers moved to fire on whichever of the two targets was closer. This plan concentrated fire on two Sith Battle Cruisers that had not been targeted by a mine as of yet, and helped spread out the damage the enemy was taking. While some people might not have thought that this was a good strategy, this helped each of the Birds of Prey destroy their target, and it also gave them a clearer path through to Sector Five. Another bonus was that it would be less likely for a Bird of Prey to hit a mine, and it is also less likely for a mine to hit another mine. The downside was that now the mines were closer together, and while they were manuvering, it would be easier for the Sith Battle Cruisers to smash the mines together.

The Sith Battleships, although old and outdated, continued steadily forward on their path of destruction. Fire and explosions erupted from the lone shipyard beneath them, as their weaponry pierced the outer hull and shot daggers into the interior.

The ships were now passing by one of the open-to-space construction sections of the shipyard, and their missiles were finally let loose. They streaked away, zooming through the ion shield that protected the interior workshop from the coldness of space, and detonated on their targets; the fuel dumps. Grandiose explosions rocked the shipyard, fireballs fuelled by the plentiful oxygen.

Screams of terror and agony rent the air, as workers and technicians, architects and foremen alike were burned to a crisp. Their last vision; the ships they had worked so hard on in the name of “freedom” being cut to ribbons by the laser fire, exploding from within, and the shrapnel flying off at odd angles, impaling their comrades to the deck. Blood spewed forth onto the bulkhead and then was boiled in an instant, before the cold metal hull plating itself began to melt. And then the ion field gave way. The screams stopped. This was freedom.

The Battleships continued on, their rage hardly spent.

The crippled Battleship began to list as it flew haphazardly toward its doom. In a vast spectacle of explosions and airborne metal it crashed headlong into the shipyard, grinding through the outer hull plating and breaching the inside.

The other Battleships made minor course corrections to avoid the wreckage, and continued on their way. They reloaded their missile tubes. They continued firing.



(The ships themselves are outdated, but it stands to reason that the torpedoes they are using are quite recent, and are on par with all others in the galaxy)
