And that doesn't surprise me at all, considering how complex and detailed some of our storylines and back stories are. In fact, when I first saw TRF (and was invited to join) I was turned off by what I saw as its "complexity" compared to the other sites I RP'd at.
TRF's depth is one of its biggest strengths. But while the veterens know all the lore of TRF, new people have no clue.
We refer people to the rules, which is an important first step. Next we suggest the timeline. The timeline is very important, but many of its entries... while making complete sense to us mean nothing to a newb.
TILARIC BREL creates New Empire
WRATH VIRUS Unleashed
BATTLE OF BASTION
New Empire defeated
Even though I wasn't here, I've gone back and read this story, and I understand the ramifications of the above entry from the timeline. But a new person doesn't even know which thread this is from!!
What I am suggesting, is creating a suppliment to the Timeline. A series of short anthologies... little summaries of important galactic events. Not every single post made of course, but with titles like "GC/Imperial War" or "The Fall of the New Republic" that could be references for new players to help them understand the galaxy. Links could be provided to allow them to then further exlpore TRF's rich history.
