And though the ship hadn’t been seen in known space for the last two decades, the codes were still legitimate. Had it been a man at the console, he may have considered where the tiny craft could have been for the last twenty years, but the droid was simply programmed to scan codes for irregularities. It punched in the final authorizations and gave a final wink to the droid at the ship controls.
Had it been sent through the intercom, it would have sounded something like “Thank you, and have a good stay.” But the droid simply received the final message and shut himself down as programmed.
One of the many tractors beams of Astral Astoria grabbed a hold of the ship and began to slowly tow it into the docking bay.
“Welcome to Astral Astoria.” A voice boomed over intercom. “You will be landing in docking area 132C. You will be subject to an inspection upon landing. Please do not be alarmed, it is simple procedure and will be over quite quickly.”
Upon hearing the voice, the droid sprung back to life and began to open a line of communication with the Astral Astorian. A massive claw on it’s shoulder stopped it before it could finish the transmission.
”Thank you droid, I will take over from here.” It said. The droid turned and gave what would be a smile in droid speak to it’s master. Even hunched over, he was still well over 6 feet tall. The small ship wouldn’t allow him to stretch as he liked, but the ship was the only one he had. He threw his cloak around his coppery red skin, and pulled the cowl low on his face.
“This is the captain of The Essex. Access for inspection denied.”
