Thoughts? Opinions? Spam?

Here's a starter:

Military Spending seems to be a somewhat controversial issue in this election. Both extremes are represented by the various parties from city-garrison to updated naval ventures.

What are your thoughts?

I think the conservatives have the best plan military wise. I just disagree with them on most other things. Lots of money for the military will pretty much be the only thing good that comes out of Stephen Harper's reign as P.M. which will start in about 11 days.

What to you think of Martin deciding that he's gonna get rid of the Notwithstanding Clause? Personally I think he must have been stoned when he came up with that idea.

It's a farking brilliant idea... if you want to inspire chaos.

Paul Martin is a super-hero, if you happen to be a retarded, shaved, and tested monkey.

Discuss.

Not to much to discuss really. I think everybody unanimously agrees on that one.

My vote will likely go Green, as it has for many years past. It's unfortunate that voting for any of the smaller parties is, more or less, is a vote wasted...

That's not true, exactly. At least, not in an idealistic view of our democracy. I am an idealist, but my ideals don't tend to hold true with our major political factions.

Stephen Harper scares me, he is far too extreme and, aside from that, he is just plain creepy. I honestly don't think he will have the formative ambition to stand-up to the United States on certian issues of Trade, commerce, and foreign relations. Lumber, Health and Disease, and Global Policing etc

Paul Martin is a great big tool. If the interests he represents could be shifted to a more positive pardigm then, I think, the Liberals could really pull together and do some good stuff... some. However, being the corporate lap-dog that he is, I'd wager that a vote for Martin is a vote for Satan.

I like the Progressives, because the acronym they've adopted is PCP: Progressive Canadian Party.

Still not old enough to vote yet, so I don't have too much experience in politics. I'll be voting in the next election... if this one was a few months later I would be eligible, but that's not the case. Anyways, as you've said Beff, Harper scares me as well... for various reasons which I assume you all, who are scared of Harper, share with me. Martin and the Liberals have had their short and I think it's time for Canada to move on... unfortunately that 'on' is a Conservative Government led by Stephen Harper.

Myself, I will likely vote NDP when I'm 18... not for Jack Layton, for the NDP - I dislike Jack Layton, he's a moron (like the other 2 'main' candidates) but either way... I like the NDP more than any of the other parties...

Also, Marth, why do we need a lot of money for our military? There are many other issues that need to be addressed before we can think about a military that will likely still be useless. Any conflicts, like in the Middle-East, don't require Canadian involvement...

The NDP is a terrible party. Just go ahead and throw your vote away on the Green Party, anything to keep the NDP as far away from power as possible.

There are any number of reasons to increase military spending. There are also any number of reasons not to. I'd go into detail, but I'm really quite busy here at work.

Trust I will when I get home.
