I saw it – and liked it.

I liked honest approach the film too;, my guy friends tell me that male behavior was portrayed well. I felt the film ended poorly, however – the conclusion was a bit rushed and out of focus.

I thought the purpose of the film was to exaggerate the pointlessness and relative inactivity of Desert Storm – think of how different the young men seemed when compared to the older Vietnam vet who entered their bus, for example – but the movie ended with a weak, “… we are still out there, in the desert” speech – it didn’t seem to fit.

Oh well –that’s enough from me *steps of her soap box*

Blink If You Can Hear Me
The point of the movie is kind of the same as what Orwell said in 1984 (and you probably heard the passage quoted in FH 9/11, if you watched it): That war is continual and pointless. War is fought all the time and when it's over nothing changes. There will always be an enemy to conquer, always a battlefield to fight on, always a soldier ready to die. The faces will change and the weapons will change and the buildings will move, but everything will stay the same. I haven't actually seen the movie, but I've read about it and it's very controversial, but I think it's a powerful and compelling message. When it hits the small screen, I'll pick it up.

Interesting analysis…

… I’m actually reading 1984 now (unfortunately I didn’t get the opportunity to do so in high school). I’ll be sure to take your post into consideration as I continue to read. Thanks
