I think its more on terms with general muggings and beatings . . . those sort of attacks, rather than bombings and the like akin to Ireland.

How dare they? The Scottish should be proud of their heritage. I remember a story my grandmother told me. After the war, she had the pleasure of meeting an Officer of the Scots Guard, British Imperial Army. He wore on him at any time six knives - often more. The Scots carry knives because the usage of daggers/swords et al is a distinct part of their culture. I see nothing wrong with that - what happened to people learning to defend themselves?

*applaudes* If I am to pay taxes to ensure the Aboriginal/Native American/Indian/What-have you culture continues to exist (I'm Canadian), then why should we go snuffing the Scotish culture? Aye, some roughing comes from it but so what? I don't see the Yanks implementing any big anti-gun laws
