I picked up this album a last week, along with Smashmouth and Weezer (both self titled). This one has gotten the lion's share of radio time. It's made it to my 'infinitely listenable list', which should be all you need to know.

I highly encourage people to give this album a whirl. If you like aggressive rock with hard, almost violent vocals that never make it beyond being fully comprehendible, you'll like this CD. I've always enjoyed vocals that border on being pushed too far (if accompanied by an appropriate soundtrack), and this CD's got'm in abundance. I don't know the lead singers name, but he's got some heavy talent here. The instrumentation is pretty good too, and is fairly consistent through the album without being boring and rote. Not a lot of variation in guitar effects or tone, so the CD just seems to flow from one song to the next. So much so that it feels far shorter than its 46 minutes is. But, while each song flows naturally from one to the next, they never meld together into one incomprehensible mess.

I had at first thought that their song structure was fragmented and amateurish at best, but after repeated listening it all flows very well....

So, yeah, five stars from Titus.

Chevelle. Never liked them enough to even download their work. Evidently, the local stations agree, as they've largely stopped playing thier songs.

Weezer, however, is a terrific album. Did you get the original, or the rerelease?

I agree with Kas, I like the new Chevelle and I kind of liked The Red ablbum, but I like this one much more. And I love the original Weezer.

I dunno. It's bad though. The instrumentation is ok, but the vocals are just ... bad.

On Chevelle, I'd recommend 'Still Running' as a good example, if you're of the downloading inclination.

I've not listened to their earlier work, but since Steve Taylor originally signed them to Squint prior to Squint going under, it must be good.

Yeah, that must be the sign of a good band, releasing something and then having your label go under.

Chevelle is derivitive and oversimplified trash. It's completely unsuprising that you like them, Kas.

Yes, well. Kas likes Chevelle but things Weezer is bad. Nuff said.

I'm not a huge fan of Weezer, either. They are not terrible, but they're not one of my favourites either.

They seem to play unremarkable, inoffensive college rock, that, while not bad, isn't great either.

It's better than a lot of whats outthere... Weezer is the kind of band you have to learn to like. It takes more than a few listens to really get into any of their stuff.

I have that album Kas, and I love it.

"Clincher" and "Vitamin R" are the best.
