The Rebel Faction

Hundreds of people walked out of the academy twin doors talking exited about their future either as a pilot, taking a command on a ship or about finally becoming a mechant of some sort. Daren was one of those hopefuls who tried to become a ship captain, but that rank he would get propably later on. Daren had a recomendation letter to the forces where he was going to report for duty already today. Daren tried to find his way out of the academy stairs, which was crowded and his friend Almon was right behind him. They became friends in the academy and almost never pareted ways in the academy time, because they even shared a room. Finally they both had their own life`s to concentrate on and the doodbye`s would be ahead of them, because Daren would become captain while Almon was going back home for a year to help his father and after, that god knows where they would place Almon. Daren instead would join the forces to protect the coalition and defend the two things, that he couldn`t find anywhere from the galaxy. Freedom and justice, he kept those values so important, that he would give his life for them. Daren and Almon got to their vehicle wawing at some other class mates and swooped away from the academy. Daren couldn`t hold his joy and began to smile from excitement while Almon pulled out a bottle, that he had been saving for this day under his seat. He took a mouth full and handed the bottle to Daren while took over the control of the vehicle, Daren took some allthough wasn`t a drinker and offered it back to Almon who shaked his head.

"You keep it...I`m done drinking for the rest of my life" Almon said with slightly melancholic, which made Daren look Almo with a amazed look.

"You gotta be kiddng me...You were the best drinker in the hole academy, you drank even the teachers under the table when needed, besides I´m not a drinker and you know that." Daren smiles remembering how he had passed out when he had tried to drink Almon under the table.

"Yea I was, but that stuff is out of my life for good now cause i have to focus on my coming career and my paps ain`t gonna bee too happy, if I drink instead of helping him on the shop. You keep it as a memory of our academy days." Almon pushed the bottle away from him.

Daren looked at Almon slightly laughing"Well in that case I believe, that you just took your last drink and sure I`ll keep it as a memory...even what`s inside" Daren smiled putting the bottle to his bag.

They arrived to a tall building where the recruiting took place and Daren jumped out of the vehicle with his bag on his shoulder turning to look at Almon grinning, who grinned back sadly as if something had hurt him at that moment.

"Well you know we both hate this part and very long goodbye`s so hower of you old scum." Daren smiled stepping back from the vehicle, which hovered into the air. Almon turned to look at Daren" You take of your self buddy and I`ll keep in touch unless you get yourself blown up besides if were lucky I might end up in the same ship as you one day." Almon speeded away while Daren waiwed at Almon with a small tear drop in the corner of his eye "take you too old scumbag" Daren smiled and turned to walk the stairs up while stopping the tears, because he was on a public place. Fortunately no one had seen it and Daren could rise in peace with out any strange looks at his back. Daren got to the top and took a cleansing breath of air and walked in to the lobby of the building where people sat waiting for something. Daren walked to the desk where a quite pretty woman sat and Daren leaned on to the desk with his hands.

"Excuse me mam, but I`m Daren Telcrot and I`m here to join the navy forces." Daren was once more being the polite person who he was, unless he was pissed of or he was givng orders when he yelled others people`s ears out.

The woman checked some information from the computer after giving Daren an examinating look." You have a recomendation by one of the academy teachers i see and everyting else seems to be in order so please wait here in the lobby, I`m sure that someone will soon pick you up and tell you which ship you will be placed on."

Daren walked to one of the chairs and sat down dropping his bag on the floor knowing, that nothing in there would be broken and it made a small puff sound when it hit the ground. Daren crossed his legs and took a relaxed position knowing, that it could take a long time for him to get any information.

"Damn byrocrats.."Daren thought inside his head....

Daren was stunned to meet Jan Donavan the minister of defense of the coalition and shaked his hand in quite a shock, Daren quickly sits down at command look to be in the brink of madness.

“As such, we have decided to reward you for those talents that you have shown. You have been given command of the Longsword Frigate, Dreamer. Dreamer has been assigned to a fleet consisting of a Haven Light Cruiser, Justice II, and another Longsword Frigate, Angelic. This fleet will be escorting a group of Battle Horn Transports and an Escort Carrier. Onboard the carrier is 6 squadrons of Saber Assault Bombers/Space Superiority Fighters (SAB/SSFs). You will escort them from there starting point, here on Mon Calamari, to their destination, Ando. On the way you will need to stop at via a variety of other Coalition planets to drop off or pick up materials. You will need approximately an hour in each system. Kubindi, Tammar, Bimmisaari and Leritor must all be visited. At Ando you will be placed in orbit there and integrated into the space defences there, at least for the time being. At that point some of your crew may receive shore leave. Captain Galden is the captain of Justice II and will be in command of this mission, therefore your direct superior. He will meet you at the spaceport in Docking Bay 52 in one hour. Do you understand Captain?”

Daren rises out of the chair slightly shaking and makes honor.

"Understood sir...but it`s a great honor to be granted with a trust like this and I will do my best to serve the Coalition in anyway."

Daren bowed to both men and stepped out of the door shaking from excitement, but then Enberbarg yelled after him.

"Captain you forgot to take the file considering you ship and crew, but for me I wish the best luck to you...don`t worry you will do fine without peeing your pants on the first day. You`ll get used in this stuff...." Ebenbarg smiled as Daren slightly embarassed took the file looking the last time at Jan before leaving. Daren walked out of the room gasping for air, but after a while he began to smile and left out of the building almost dancing the steps down from excitement while he could hear heartly laughter behind him. He was still slightly confused, because he had been made as a captain few hours after craduating and had met the minister of defense. He had trully under estimated himself once again and he had a new spark of conficende in him for the rest of his career for, that or so he thought for now. His mom and dad would be proud of his son when they would recieve his post, which he could send to Serenno after the mission was over. Daren reached the street level and began to walk towards the docks with his bag on his shoulder, he was so excited, that he could notice his own whistling, which made some people look at him with strange looks. Daren didn`t notice it and wouldn`t have cared because he was so high, not even being drunk could win, that ultimate feeling od success. Daren stopped on a map, that would give him directions and the fastest way would be to take a train to the spaceport and he wouldn`t give a bad image of himself to captain Galden. He jumped the stairs down, that lead to the railway station and he rushed towards the train, which just arrived on the station. He made his way to the train trough the crowd and apoligized all the time from the people he bumped into, he just got between the train doors and sighed from relief. He turned to look at almost empty train, which really didn`t bother him on the conterary it made him happier when he sat down and raised his bag on his lap.

Daren smiled when he opened the file, which contained information about the frigate he was going to command in the very near future

"Let`s see what kind of a ship I`m commanding" Daren chucked to himself looking at the Dreamer files, which proved quite familiar cause he had read much of these longsword frigates in the academy. He had even developped few crazy manouvers for the ship in his own mind, but never revealed them to any knowing, that it wouldn`t be of any use. Daren looked trough the crew list and was happy about the second ranking officer of the ship, Mina Yraji one of his friends from the academy and a very smart woman allthough sometimes a pain to handle with. There also came up names like Lomay Dagar and Charo Tuga, who were good mechanics and would be a fine addition to the crew. Daren closed the file and looked outside smiling slightly while putting the file in his bag, he would soon take command. It was still hard to believe, but it was true. The train began to make a squil sound while breaking on to the station, which was his stop. Daren walked out to the station and began to walk until he reached the docks where he began to look at the docking bays, 50...51..52. "Aha!" Daren thought and walked to the bay looking for Captain Galden...

Daren looked around the bay and saw a officer walking to him when Daren knew that we was just in time without mistakes.

“Captain Telcrot, I am Captain Kit Galden, commander of the Haven Light Cruiser Justice II. This is Captain Albsan, of the Longsword Frigate, Angelic.” Galden said, whiled offering Telcrot his hand.

Daren shaked his newfound commanders hand and smiled friendy of course to make a good impression. Daren had also some knowledge of human psychology and had his way with many people because of his studies, but it remained to be seen if this man knew what Daren knew.

"Pleasure to meet you captain, I apoligize if i seem a little nervous or excited because it`s not every day when you get out of the academy, get your own ship to command, hear that you`re a captain and meet the defense minister of the coalition, not to forget my first command." Daren realised just something and became embarassed releasing the handshake "I`m sorry captain I`m babling too much instead of concentrating to your words, my apoligiez once more." Daren could see a smile sneaking to the lips of the captain allthough he tried to hide it, then the captain took few steps and nodded Daren to follow him.

"We have shuttles waiting to take us to our ships on the orbit Captain Telcrot, the captain of the Angelic is already waiting on his ship and I have met him before so his presence now isn`t necesesary. I heard, that you`re quite succeeded in the academy and for, that i gongratulate you because Malakem doesn`t usually praise many people, but we can talk some other time captain because now your shuttle awaits you." Galden slammed Daren friendly on his shoulder, which made Daren almost fall because he was leaning forwards with his weight and didn`t expected a slam like that.

Daren walked towards the shuttle while Galden went to his own and Daren wawed slightly before walking up the landing ramp, Daren saw few other crew members who welcomed him in and told them to sit down. Daren sat down besides a long blonde haired man who had ponytailed his hair seemed to be very excited. The ramp rised and the shuttle lifted itself up from the ground and left towards the ship on the orbit, inside the crew members couldn`t hold their excitement except Daren. He sat there trying to make out were these people in important missions on his ship and excamined them for the trip until he could see his own ship ahead of the shuttle. It was a 500 meter frigate with powerful thruster "arms", Daren had seen some pictures and seen it`s power in simulation, but never in pure action. The shuttle began slowly to enter the hangar after closing in at the ship, but then the man besides him shaked him from his arm and Daren turned to look at him.

"What`s your job on the ship?" The blonde man asked as the shuttle was going into the hangar and Daren decided to play for a while.

"Well...Nothing important really so I won`t bother waisting time telling you, that information becausee you have better things to do than listen to my job at this ship." Daren looked inocently at the roof while all the crew members began look at him and there was a death silence except for the shuttle`s ramp hitting the floor slowly.

"Come on tell us" One of them said "yeah!" The other shouted and the blonde showed him in his ribs slightly, but then Daren stood up and took his bag walking into the head of the ramp.

"What are you affraid of wussy?" One of the mocked at him." Are you low here? Are you the shoe cleaner?" The shuttle was filled with laughter and Daren suddenly turns at them with a cunning look at his face.

"No...I`m just toying with you because the one laughs best who laughs last...I`m your captain" Daren bowed "Have a nice day gentlemen" Daren walks the ramp down laughing for leaving the crew members speechless as, if they had been hit by a meteor. Daren walked trough the hangar to a turbo lift where he was with few mechanics who were already in their uniforms, Daren walked out of the lift and made his way to the captain`s quaters. Daren arrives at the door with curious looks on his back and he zips a card, that was with the files that Colonel Ebenbarg gave him. He closed the door looking at the room with a smile on his face, excellent just as he though and finally he would have his own desk. Daren began to unpack his stuff and classicly places a photo of his family on his desk, among other things he out the bottle on to a self on the wall where hanged a picture of the Dreamer. He finishes unpacking he puts the bag into a closet from where he pulls out his captain uniform, which was a typical suit in the navy. He changed his clothes and to make himself more powerful character he places a blaster on his belt where it had a nice place for it. Finally he tries a cap on, but it doesn`t really fit so he just throws it back to the closet and cleans himself up ny wiping his uniform with his hands. He looks himself in front of the mirror thinking,

"Me a captain? who would have believed? Allthough I look very good in this uniform, but those damn caps should be made different sizes, but instead I just have to take more care of my hair to look more representive."

Daren walks out of his quaters and locks the door recieving hails on his way to the bridge and politely answers back to them. Then he arrives to the bridge where the crew was already doing their things slightly nervously since it was their first time, which brought comfort to Daren cause he was nervous too. The other ships were assembling into a formation and Daren looked at the operators of the ships whistling to get their attention.

"Boys..."He pointed at his tags, which showed his rank "Get this ship into formation quickly and someone get me a connection to Justice II, also prepare for a hyperspace jump after a while when i say so." Daren walked closer to the men that were operating and looked at a screen where a picture of Galden appearred and he turned to look at Daren while the both ships bridge crew were in full work.

"Captain Daren Thelcrot, Dreamer and it`s crew are reporting for duty. We are currently joining the escort formation and we will soon be ready for a hyperspace jump towards Kubindi sir." Daren informed with a slightly shaking voice and no one around him dared to laugh at him because they were just as nervous as he was, even more perhaps. Galden nods slightly smiling.

"Well done captain, your ship will be taking the left flank and after you`re ship is in position we can jump to hyperspace where everyone can take a slight breather. Justice II out..." The picture fades away and Daren looks at the operators.

"Well? You heard him! The left flank is ours to secure!" Daren let his voive out of control accidentally, but it got speed to the operators and Daren took few nervous steps closer to see the ships assembling better. The ship got on it`s place and radio channel was opened where Catain Galden spoke.

"Goodday crew of all these ships, We have got ourselves some fresh new blood from straight from the academy so give some cheers to our newest ship crews." Many cheered, which made the newcomers feel slightly better "But now we are going jump to hyperspace and we will be arriving to Kubindi." Daren got his hand up for a mark for the ship operators to get ready to jump to hyperspace and they began fevoursly to out the cordinates ."All ships procceed to hyperspace..." Galden`s voice faded out and Daren lowered his hand while they hole escort left for Kubindi. Everyone sighed from relief, that nothing had went wrong and Daren turned away from the operators to see his school mate approach, she stopped in front of him and hailed.

"Mina Yraji reporting for duty sir!" she says with a trembling voice.

"Undoutably you do" Daren smiles at her and continues "No need apoligy liutenant, your only punishment was to miss this ship crew first acts on here on the bridge...Nothing more...nothing less" He smiled and turned to look at the flashing star, which they passed....

[font=Times New Roman][size=3]Kit smiled as he left to go to his own shuttle. Daren was an interesting fellow, one that might even turn into a friend in the future. As his shuttle flew up to Justice II he walked throughout it and talked to some of his crew. Most of them were new recruits, straight out of the Academy. While many did quite well there, they were still green. They had never seen a real battle, never had their lives threatened in anyway. How they would perform with the threat of death looming over their heads had yet to be seen. Now, with “Operation: Surprise!” that would be found out. The green crews would be tried and tested and become true warriors. Some people felt that they had already done that, that they had proved their worth in the Academy. But that was not so, as the Academy wasn’t the same as real life. So they had to be tested.[/size][/font]

[font=Times New Roman][size=3]Because of location of Mon Calamari in relation to other Coalition worlds and Black Dragon Empire space, High Command had seen fit to make certain paths which the majority of Coalition shipping would follow, including all military ships. It involved a very long, circular route which involved going towards the edge of the galaxy to a system designated MX-103. From there they would travel near the edge of the galaxy to the system designated MX-104 and from there across to Kubindi, being sure to avoid the Centrality, which was well known to belonging to BDE, except for the planet Oseon, which was controlled by Vinda Corporation.[/size][/font]

[size=3][font=Times New Roman]“Goodday crew of all these ships, We have got ourselves some fresh new blood from straight from the academy so give some cheers to our newest ship crews.” Here Kit paused for a few moments. “But now we are going jump to hyperspace and we will be arriving to Kubindi.” Another pause for the ships’ bridge crews to check out the numbers, since it shouldn’t have taken long, as it was a pre-made course. “All ships proceed to hyperspace on my mark. Five, four, three, two, one, mark.”[/font][/size]

[size=3][font=Times New Roman][color=gray]Justice II shook as it made the jumped to hyperspace. Once the ship was safely in hyperspace Kit stood up. “XO, you have the bridge. Call me when we come out of hyperspace at Kubindi.”<o:p></o:p>[/font][/size][/color]

[size=3][font=Times New Roman][color=gray]“Yes sir.”<o:p></o:p>[/font][/size][/color]

[size=3][font=Times New Roman][color=gray]Kit slowly walked back to his quarters, stopping along the way to pause and talk to some of the crewmembers. He soon realized that Jan had been right, pretty much his entire crew was made up of new recruits just out of the Academy. Kit would do anything for some of Joren Logan’s Praetorian Guard or some of the White Knights. But they were too few in number to be stationed everywhere. As well, he did have Telcrot under his command, arguably one of the best captains, at least in the Academy, ever to belong to the Coalition.<o:p></o:p>[/font][/size][/color]

So far he seemed to be doing quite well, keeping the crew busy, but not running around showing off his power. That was exactly the kind of XO that would become a good captain…<o:p></o:p>[/font][/size][/color]

Behind it came the transport, arranged in a triangle formation, with the escort carrier at the back center of the triangle. To port of the triangle was Dreamer and to starboard was Angelic.[/size][/font]

[font=Times New Roman][size=3]Excellent, the ships all made it out in formation. So far, so good.[/size][/font]

They will be met at…” here KC listed a the coordinates for the rendezvous point. “The rest of the convoy, minus an escort for Transports 1-3, should maintain their current heading and course. Other shuttles are coming to top you guys up with fuel.”[/size][/font]
