I must say I'm not suprised at this. Everyone knows that at least 75% of all desktop computers is nothing but open space to make the computer look big and thus allowing the retailers to sell it at ridicolous prices.

Seth: XP isn't really that bad, though you do need a beefy system to make it happy (read: something bigger than what that has). I doubt it would be too dificult to put something like, say, Windows2k on that, though.
speaking from all practicality, though, when it comes time for me to get a new computer (probably a ways off as I usually just upgrade this one when it gets pokey) I'm either going for a laptop, or a custom built system ala Hush. I'm a huge fan of quiet computers.
