[font=verdana, arial, helvetica][size=2]I'm trying to set up a wireless network in my house so that a computer on the second floor can access the internet through my computer.

The computer on the second floor can't find any wireless network. We're within range, as the house isn't that big, and everything is installed correctly (as far as I can tell) on my end. The only thing that appears to be abnormal is that the status light on the wireless router is not on.

Any suggestions? I'm about ready to pull out my hair.[/size][/font]

I think the problem may be insulation, duct, pipes, etc., in the roof between your first floor and second floor.

omg i have a stalker!

We're going to take the upstairs computer downstairs and test to see if it still can't 'see' the network. And then... maybe it's just that my computer is stupid and I need a new one. ^_^;

Also another factor....What is the difference in clock speed from your computer processor and your Wireless LAN connection?

Knowing people, its entirely concievable that your computer doesn't have a wireless network called inserted or installed, or that it is the wrong type of card (Wireless-B vs. Wireless-G).

Of course, its also possible, and more likely, that you DO know what you are doing.

Serioously, though. Installing my router we ran into the most ridiculous problem. My dad's techie guy couldn't get it to work.

The problem?

It had to be powered up in a particular order. Whether this will work for you I have no idea, but try unplugging all three (the PC, the router, and the modem).

Then power the router, the modem, and the PC, in that order.

If that fails, consult your help documentation.

The amusing thing is that we then had to unplug the computer that goes upstairs so we could transport it ... and then the network went offline again.
