I went to see this movie last night. Big. Mistake. It's released Wednesday, and I try go see it on the first weekend it's out, at 2:10? And it's Memorial Day weekend too? The first theater I went to was sold out for the two upcoming showings. I then traveled almost thirty miles to another theater, only to find out that one was sold out for the next four showings on both their screens. I then went all the way back to the first theater, and managed to get into their second four-o'clock showing.

After all that, I must say, this movie did not disappoint. I loved the first Shrek, with its mockery of Disney themes (exploding bird scene: absolute ownage). This movie easily equaled the first in both smarts and laughs. The animation was excellent, the voicing even better than the first, and the jokes kept cracking the audience up. Dreamworks' plays on words and themes were great, as well. "The kingdom of Far Far Away would like to ..."

The only thing I would have changed would have been a little less Donkey and more Puss in Boots.

When you go see the show, stay and watch the credits. There's a short extension hidden about three or four minutes in.

Return of the King of the Cafe!
Yeah, I liked that movie too. However, I feel they might be pushing their luck if they plan to make a Shrek 3. The jokes may get stale.

Strip Tease For Me, Baby / Tie Me To The Bed, Dear
If the studios don't go power mad and insist on breaking up the production and directing teams that worked on part 1 and 2, I have big hopes for 3... it's unusual that a sequel matches the original so I hope Shrek keeps up it's good score.

I think there's something about computer animated films that give them a better chance of being good, than opposed to a run of the mill hollywood flick. Something about having so many people acting and directing all at the same time. If something isn't good, they have plenty of time during production to change and polish, I would imagine.

I liked the movie. But the ogres were painfully ugly, the movie was ten times better when the were humans for that little amount of time.

Puss in Boots was great. And Jennifer Saunders was excellent as the fairy Godmother.
